First post from a new cruiser. We are sailing on the 10/24 Wonder and I have a couple of questions for the experienced cruisers.

First, we will be arriving at Port Canaveral in our RV and leaving it in the parking lot there. Could those familiar with the Port layout tell me how far this would be from the Disney port? Does it take long to get into the Port and find a place to park? We're going to try to arrive Sunday AM about 10, and hope that leaves us enough time. Has anyone done this? Any tips on where to park?

Second, my wife really wants to go parasailing at CC. I'd like to go with her, but I'm not sure how that would work out. Is it appropriate to leave the kids (15,11,7) at the beach while we go off for an hour or so? I'm sure there is plenty for them to do, and assume it would be fine, but wanted to double-check before I make ressies.

Thanks to all.

The Port Canaveral parking lot is divided by your cruise ship, so you will be directed to park in the Disney cruise line lot. It's a very short walk over to the terminal from the lot.

The terminal itself doesn't open until 10:30, so planning to arrive at 10 would let you get the RV closed up and all your luggage squared away. Good plan.

Parasailing. This does book fairly quickly, so I'd suggest you pre-book before you leave. The kids programs are fully staffed on Castaway Cay day. The 15 year old would probably be fine watching your younger children, but if the 15 year old wants to hang with the teens (they have their very own beach), your younger children could go to the Scuttle's Cove area (Kids club on Castaway Cay). It operates just like on the ship. You check them into the club on shore, and you have the pager for emergencies. They won't take them swimming, but there are lots of neat activities including scavenger hunts, sandcastle contests, splash parties, etc. They will also take them to lunch if they are in the club over that time.

Have a great trip!

10:00 would be plenty of time since you are just across the street. One tip mentioned on these boards is don't leave any food open and don't park near the trees or grass islands. Ants are apparently pretty bad and will get in your vehicle. as mentioned above reserve early and use Scuttle's Cove for the children until you return. have fun.
