QS Dining Plan... can you make it work?

Looking at the numbers I feel like it's hard to make it worth it. We've done DDP before and just by doing some buffets and character meals you. An actually make it work to your advantage. I don't see how it's possible on the QS plan. Unless you did BOG breakfast (which isn't available).

We're going for Food and Wine so maybe the snack credits would make up the difference?

Maybe I'm missing something? Thanks for any input!

F&W snacks will help if you use them for the higher priced savory things and not the desserts.

If we allow $5 pre-tax for the snacks, then your QS meals need to be about $17.50 pre-tax. With a $3 drink, that means your entrée needs to be $14.50. It is doable, but you need to search the menus and find the places that have the higher priced entrees. If you can use half your snacks for items more than $5, then you've got some leeway with your QS meals.

However, I would choose where and what I WANT to eat first and do the math. Otherwise, you're eating to fit the plan instead of using the plan to your advantage. Prices are also up for the F&W snacks, so you can figure those in as well.

Rule of thumb is that it's really hard to break even or better with QSDP unless you have kids age 3-9 in your party, preferably at least as many kids as adults.

We have two seven year olds. I guess The good thing is that we can order for them off the adult menu for quick service. That could help with justifying the quick service plan. I've searched a lot of the menus and there are very few places that have quick service options $15 or higher. That doesn't mean it's impossible but I don't want to have to be searching those places out in ordering the most expensive thing just to make it worth it.

With two 7-year olds, you could very likely split a single adult meal between them, and just order an extra drink.

With two kids in the mix, you don't have to look for those $15 entrees. Let's do the math:

Total for 2A, 2K for one night is $138.14. Divide by four is $34.53 per night, per person. Average of $5 per snack takes the two QS meals down to $24.53. So now your QS meals only need to be $12.26 WITH tax. That's really easy to do if you're all ordering adult meals. Drinks are around $3. I'm pretty sure you can find entrees for more than $9 at EVERY QS place.

The folks that do the podcast on the Dis have reviewed the QDP and decided it's almost impossible to break even unless you order the most expensive item at every meal.

OR you have kids on the plan and you're using their credits to buy adult meals. My math above shows that the OP can easily save money with the plan if they don't buy kid's meals.
