QOTD - Photo size

I use Microsoft PictureIt! to create collage jpeg files. Most I print at 4x6 (3 images @ 2x4 or 4 @ 2x3 or 6 @ 2x2, etc) which I can cut apart later to scrap. This way I am ordering mostly 4x6 prints from Kodak Gallery or Snapfish (to get the best price break). When I want larger prints, I print a collage at 8x10 on a Kodak or Fuji machine (at Target, Walgreens or CVS). I usually wait for a "buy one, get one free" sale to mimimize the cost.

The smaller photos are great for parade shots and character meals.

I print mostly at home. I do sketches first. So, if I was working on MGM, I'd decide what pages I will have looking through the photos on the computer. Let's say I'll have a lyout for power rangers, 1 page for Cars, the oppposite for meeting KimP and Ron etc... Then I decide what size to print the photos. Usually my pages have more than one size photo.


I have an HPD7300, before that I had HP 7350. I love my photos, more so than I when I have them printed ny snapfish, CVS Ritz etc. I only use the photo editing software it came with (which is not very advanced) What I have found, is that no matter what brand you get, use their products. I use HP paper and HP ink. When I used Kodak paper or Epson paper, it just didn't turn out as well.

Ok, apparently I've missed out on a bit of conversation here - what exactly is food porn?

Nope, no fisheye. It's the sun hood on the camera, it tends to get soft corners in it. It is really neat especially if you use the flash on an indoor shot, I did some of our Xmas tree a few years ago and it was really noticeable.

I used Walmarts site to get the first round of Disney pics. 150 of them.....

It said the pics wouldn't be ready until today. I worked really hard, picking sizes, editing, etc.. I can finally crop the pics using a Mac. I get there today, I have all 4 kids, I'm running late for the now cancelled holiday workshop, I'm waiting for the DR to call me back.
I'm sorry we don't have your pics.....

<Blank stare>...... Ummmm ex-squeeze me? I ordered 150 pics, what do you mean you don't have them. I got confirmations, e-mails etc....

Well, see that's from our site, not the people that manage our pictures. I'll call them to see what's up.

Ok, I had to giggle a little (or maybe a lot). I TOTALLY feel your pain, it's just that your description is so fantastic that it made me laugh out loud. (Which is unusual for me, I am one of those people whose laugh doesn't really have a sound.)

I used to only order 4X6 and scrap those, but lately, I've been ordering from www.scrapbookpictures.com and they have tons of different sizes to pick from. So I might order 1 4X6 of a certain pic and have that be the focus of the layout, then order the other pics for the layout as 2X2 or 3X3. That way I can get a lot more pics on my layouts and they don't look crammed. Scrapbookpictures.com also has all these neat borders and masks and stuff you can put on your pics that are really cool.

Loved the site!!! I loved the fact that they had so many sizes to choose from too!

I placed and order too, for our xmas cards. They looked so cute online, I hope they look as good in person. I'll let you know what I think when they come in.

I usually order all of mine 4 x 6 from Costco (its just 1 1/2 miles from my house) I also do some printing at home with my HP Photosmart C4150 it does 4x6 and 8x10 and is really easy, just put my SD card in the slot and start printing.

I've been using 4x6 or 5x7 canvases in Paint Shop Pro and printing strange size photos. I did a halloween layout with all 3x3 squares. I re-sized my photos to 3x3 and put 2 of them onto a 4x6 canvas.

Walgreens are 2 5x7s for $2 so I like doing them when needed.

I order all of my 4x6 pics from Walmart because they have a sort of matte glossy-ish finish that I like. I always order for 1 hour pick-up and I've never had a problem. I'm sorry you had an issue!

I need to check this site out! I have some ideas for a few pages that will take much smaller photos and I've not been able to figure out a way to make them work. This sounds like just what I need!

I like the finish too but their customer service stinks. And I did get the pics back and 2 were cropped down to the point that I can't use them. Not sure how that happened. And about 6-8 of them looked terrible. I'm not sure how to describe it, like an instantly printed pic. the colors were off and the color looked like it was on the paper no in the paper.

I checked out scrapbook pictures too. The prices are a little high, but if the quality is good, I may just order from them. The web site was a little hard to navigate at first but I managed to figure it out.

I got my order today!!! Fabulous work!!!! I love love love my christmas pics!!

I would definitely use them again. I got 4 4x6 pics, 40 christmas cards and 1 6x8 for my scrap pages. I love this size, it's going to be perfect.

I made a discovery last night. I've had my kodak printer dock for almost 2 years now and just used it for the first time last night. I was able to hook it up to my computer and it let me select 2 photos on a 4x6. No resizing manually needed! Woo hoo!!! (I'm making 6x6 albums for each of my sisters of their kids and the gift will be FROM the kidlets)
