Ok, it's 16 days away..

Who has their kids' costumes ready and what are they going as?

What candy do you typically give out if you do?

Well, the kids are going as 50/60's kids.. The boys are slicking back their hair, jeans, leather coats and white tee-shirts (dad is dressing up too when we go to the Zoo Boo)...
DD and I are wearing poodle skirts (I still need to make one, borrowing another one) and putting our hair in pony tails...

DH is out of town so I will take the kids trick or treating.. DS11 doesn't like to trick or treat so he will man the house w/ another friend of mine..

We usually hand out suckers... DumDum suckers to be exact...get a lot more in their packages! LOL Unless of course I find something on sale...

I haven't a clue what they are wearing and am not looking ofrward to fighting the crowds at Party City.

We give lots of different stuff, beside candy, the kids picked out superballs, the parachute guys and mini bubbles.

We are superheroes at my house this year! DS (2) is going to be Buzz Lightyear- he is sooooo excited. DD (7) is going to be Violet from the Incredibles. I just need to get black spray for her hair. It may to be too hot for my little Buzz (the costume traps all of his heat) so if that's the case he will wear his fireman's hat and boots... so still a superhero.

We usually buy candy we like- M&M's, Butterfingers, Snickers, Milky Way... however I am thinking we should stick to things we don't like this year! :lmao:

No kids to dress this year. I can't wait till next year though.

As for candy we usually give out the good stuff and lots of it. LOL We have hersheys chocolates mixed in with a Willy Wonka mix.

Of course this year I didn't plan very well and I have my glucose test on Nov 1st so I won't be having any candy on halloween.

OH yeah! the glucose test.. that is the worst drink ever!!! :) I had my test and registered 205... they classified me as gestesional diabetes..but when they had me testing my blood sugars 3 times a day the doctors were baffled as to why my tests were in the normal limits but that one level was so darn high! :) Good luck with that test... you'll be fine!!!

My niece is going as a princess, no cheerleader, no football player.... well I'm sure she'll decide at some point :)

I don't dress up but I do hand out full size candy bars :D I'm a popular stop

DD is going as a witch. DS says he's not going, but if he changes his mind at the last minute like he did last year, he's going to have to make due with his Indian costume I busted my hiney to make last year because he changed his mind at the last minute!;)

I ususally give my mother our candy to hand out with hers. DH goes to bed really early (he's up at 3:30 am), so it works out best for us. This year we have Hershey's to give out. Two years ago, we gave out the candy from our MNSSHP trip (we had four FULL bags from the trip).

We live in the middle of nowhere. The houses are too far apart to trick-or-treat. Nobody has their lights on this street. I always buy the Wonka mix, just incase someone does decide to come up our 500 foot driveway. And they are the kids favorite, so they usually eat them.

My youngest will be a pirate and my eldest a ninja. This is for the school parties. We don't go trick-or-treating since I would feel like a heel driving my children to a neighbor we don't live in to get candy from strangers. We live too far from the malls to do that. And the zoo is way too far for just trick or treating.

Costumes???? My kids are monsters every day, they don't need costumes! LOL

Honestly I have no ideas what we are doing.

My neighbor came over.. she is our adopted Grandma.. she told me to just let them take a shower and than go out in the back and roll in the mud, attach a blanket and they could go as "PigPen".. LOL That may be an option yet to come!!

My DD4 was going to be Sharpay from High School Musical...then Jasmine (or Jazem as she says)...now she's going to be Ariel. I'm sure she'll be something. She wears some sort of costume everyday, so we have plenty of choices. :)

My DD7 was going to be Jango Fett, but he is currently addicted to Harry Potter, so that is the new costume du jour. We'll see though. He has been dressing as Harry for about a week now. Glasses and all. :)

Me? I'm going to be wearing my sparkly Minnie ears that I got at the PNPP in Feb. :) Woo hoo! My DH is going to dress in brown and wear the Yoda backpack he got at the Star Wars weekends. So he's going to be Luke Skywalker. :) A plus is that the Yoda is a back pack so the kids can put their extra candy in it!

DD 2.5 is going as Mary Poppins. I spray painted her Easter hat black and added the cherries and daisies--it turned out VERY cute! Found an old purse to use as a carpet bag/candy carrier and 'splurged' on the kids' MP umbrella from Disneyshopping.com when it was 20% off and free shipping over $50. Black dress coat and a scarf and we are good to go!

As for what we are handing out, probably chocolate (Snickers, Kit Kat, etc.)but I usually try to have a little something for the 'babies' as well. Last year, it was the mini-play-dohs. Not sure what I will choose this year...:confused3 We usually only get about 60 kids, so I can afford that. If we had double that (or more) we would hand out the cheap stuff!:lmao:

Cute outfit.. I'd love to see photos.. even just the outfit lady out if you don't like to post photos of your kids like me... overly protective here! :)

No kids anymore. I don't think we'll be home this halloween but when we are, I usually give out chocolate and then I have the wonka mix, just in case I need it. I used to love taking my dds out for halloween.

I don't have kids. We will be at our church Halloween thing so I will just be buying a few bags to bring their this year. Probably whatever is on sale.

Rebecca

DS10 will be a grim reaper and my DS4 currently is going to be a ghost(zippers up the front with a hood that has a point and a puffy smiley face on it). He has been tossing between a pirate, buzz lightyear, a fireman - he has a large dress up box to choose from.

We dont ususally hand out because we both go with the kids. But when we do it Hershey chocolate

Well, I don't have kids, but our school is dressing up to kick off NHD as historical figures. I'm going to be Napoleon Bonaparte (appropriate with the teaching French thing).

As far as giving out candy, we do trick-or-treating here the Sunday before Halloween and I may still be out of town. We have to drive home from TN that day and unless we leave at 4am, we won't be home by TOT at 2.
