Has anyone, I hope, noticed the strange weather patterns this year. I live in Ohio and it feels like Fall out today and has for weeks. I never, in my life, remember it being in the 60s-70s during July and August here. It's always in the 80s-90s. I for one think it's concerning and wonder what is happening to our climate to have such a drastic change all of the sudden. I mean, I've seen the information that says it's from pollution and such. I guess my real question is why don't people seem more concerned about it and why aren't scientists and the media making a bigger deal out of it?

Hasn't been right since man went to the moon

I live in Wisconsin and we are having a record low tonite of 46. I think it only went up to 53 today.

I hate this kind of weather, it just makes the winter that much longer.

Do you think that global warming has anything to do with it? That would give us gradually warmer winters and cooler summers. If the glaciers melt too quickly eventually, than everything will really be out of whack.

Someone out there must be studying it? I've read that we are supposed to have super-tornadoes and hurricanes in store for the future. Of course California is predicted to fall into the Ocean eventually too. It all sounds so much like science fiction, though. Or is it just evolution?

Thanks for the interesting post! :sunny:

One year of unusual weather is not cause for concern, to say nothing of one month. Weather is inherently unpredictable (as told to me by several TV meteorologists). It can be 42 degrees on a day when the "normal" temperature is around 70. It can be 102 degrees on a day when the "normal" temperature is 70.

That's what makes things like global warming so difficult to analyze with any degree of certainty. Any analysis of permanent change has to take a VERY long term approach in terms of scope. And we just don't have reliable weather data going back very long.

Ya, the weather has been horrible here, it's been raining almost every single day, and when its not raining, its freezing cold:(

DH has noticed a definite change in weather in Florida since his childhood. Afternoon rains were common in the 50's and 60's. We went through a drought the past few summers and lost much vegetation in spite of watering. Recently, it's begun raining 3 times a day.....morning, mid afternoon and night. We've also noticed a strange feeling hot wind blowing when on our terrace. We're not near the coast and have NEVER felt a hot breeze before. Not only that, areas of land that had once been useless swampland dried out and were rezoned by city commission to redevelop into subdivisions. Upscale homes were built. These areas are now BACK UNDER WATER! Yes, things are changing!

I also note that things are different in the area of North Carolina from when I was a child. Every January I was out of school for my birthday due to heavy snow. This snow pattern went on for decades. The past few winters it hasn't snowed in that particular area of N.C. in January or any other time. Think what you will, but I agree with the O.P.....things are indeed changing.

So how many people think things are changing or this "month" of strange weather is a natural fluke?

I think it is just a crummy summer..........that balances the ones that are unusually hot.

I think it is just a fluke. Here in OK we have had unseasonably mild temps - which makes me, my air conditioner and electric bill very happy. For the first time since I've lived here we are no longer suffering a drought - our rainfall is exactly where it needs to be. I think Mother Nature is just making up to some of us for the lousy (read extremely hot and dry) summers in the past. Those of you who are in the north and are suffering a cooler summer, sorry - next year we'll probably be back to sweating our tushes off and you'll be fine ;)

We've had crummy summers before. We get 2 or 3 warm, sunny days and then we get rain and 70's for 3-4 days. Our temps have been below normal and July was pretty wet for us this yr. My kids have only been in our pool 5 or 6 times all summer...usually it's almost every day. But we have also had summers where it has been very hot and sunny and we get water restrictions. If this pattern continues next yr, then I'll worry about it...this yr. I'm just writing off as a bad summer.

:confused3 I don't know, but I sure wish we'd get some of those 50-70 degree days here in Orlando!!

Average is just that, average, made up of extremes, both high and low on the scale.

We live in Michigan and nothing seem to ever be normal here! :teeth: I have notice the summer here is fallen below average. Like today, it will only go up to about mid 60s. I think we're going to have an early winter and I think it's going to be a brutal one.
