Has anyone tried the PX90 system? The commercials and youtube ads are all very appealing but what is it really like? do you need to buy all the extras? Is it for serious bodybuilders? My goal is to lose a bit of weight and tone everything but not enter any muscle competitions!

I downloaded it and it is extremely intense. I only do the cardio ones as I can only do those. It is CRAZY! But yes you do need everything to be able to do all the videos.

We have P90X and yes, it does work - if you do it! LOL! Every time I get started with it, I just quit because it is a huge time commitment. Each workout is over an hour long and the Yoga X workout is terrible IMO. You are expected to workout 6 days a week and some days you have to do the hour workout in addition to an abs workout that is another 15-30 minutes.
You will need some way to do pull ups - whether it is a pull up bar or you can rig up some resistance bands and use those. We put hooks in a closet in our basement and put the resistance bands on those.
My dh stuck with it longer than me the first time we did it and he did really well. I stayed with it for about 30 days the first time and didn't see much change at the time. I think I wasn't eating enough to keep up with the 500+ calorie burns each workout gives.

Yes, it works. Definitely! My dh and I did it last winter when I took a break from running. The workouts are intense (and fun!). My favorite was the Kenpo one. Loved it!!! The workouts range from 55 minutes - 90 minutes. The Yoga is the hardest one believe it or not! It was 90 minutes and HARD!!!!

If you stick with it, and don't go insane with eating, you will notice a difference! I stopped because I much prefer to run outside, but needed something to do when it was just too cold to run.

This winter, after I run the Disney marathon (!), I think I'll be ordering Insanity. It's made by the same people who put together P90X, but it's harder, I hear.

If you're just looking to lose a bit of weight Beach Body's old program - Power 90 (P90) is very good for that. Workouts are under an hour, and the only equipment needed is a small set of weights or the resistance bands. You may even be able to find copy cheap online. I lost 20lbs on this one when I really committed to it, but at this point I'm a bit bored and am lacking the commitment required to actually make it work for me..

Good luck!

DDs teacher this year lost a TON of weight and he attributes it to px90. So much he looks like a different person-I seriously didn't recognize him at the start of this school year.

If you just want to lose weight and tone up I would check out Insanity. It's crazy hard and will push you to the limit, BUT it's a 60 day program and during the first month the workouts about about 35-45 minutes (second month they are about 45-60 minutes). My DH and I did it in the spring and I lost 9 lbs and 10" and my DH lost over 30 lbs. We were both in fairly good shape and didn't need to loose a lot but I can't believe how toned I am. I started seeing changes in week 3 and it inspired me to keep going. We also did not follow the eating plan, just used common sense and stopped going through the drive-thru, LOL.

The thing we also loved was we needed no extra equipment other than a 3X5 piece of space (and a towel to mop up the sweat). We were both able to do it in our living room. We tried the basement but there are jumps and DH kept hitting his hands on the ceiling.

Check it out! I've convinced 3 more people to do it after they saw my before & after pictures (and no, I am not affiliated with Beachbody, it just works that well).

My DH and I have tried it. DH liked it, but I didn't care for it. Some of the workouts just didn't move fast enough for me. So he does it and I do my own thing. We only bought a pull up bar, we already had hand weights.

My husband and I are on the final week right now! We think it's great, we have lost weight and are much more toned than we were before. We are not body builders or hard core workout fanatics by any means! We plan to do it for another round! We bought a pull up bar that attaches to a door without being screwed into the wall at Target. We had some hand weights and got a few more. We also got some bands, we got most of those things at Wal-Mart and Target. We buy protein bars and "recovery drink" from Sams. If you stick with it, you will look a lot better! We quit our gym membership and started this and we are doing so much better off than we were at the gym! I really recommend it, if you dont' like it, they always sell well on ebay!

I've never used P90X, before I didn't have the time, now that I lost my job and do have the time I have no $$ to buy it. LOL but I do like the Turbo Jam series that I got from Beach Body and I really like Jillian Michaels 30 day shred too. Right now I'm working on just abs but next week I'm going back to Jillian, it's a 20 minute workout but it's very very intense!

I was watching Mike and Mike on TV this morning and they were talking about a risk free 90 day promotion coming up. Not sure what the normal promotion is but it sounded pretty good to me.

Yes it works....and yes, it's hard!!!

What I like about it is that you can pace yourself. The first week, I pooped out after the first 45 mins of each workout and just laid on the floor....ha-ha!! Actually, the very first day of workout, I remember getting into the shower after completing less than 45 mins of the hour workout and thinking, "what have I gotten myself into?" But, after I pushed through the first week, I was able to keep up with the videos a little better.

I didn't notice too much loss on the scale but I noticed a lot when measuring. I lost a bunch of inches and my middle was starting to look very toned. Muscle weighs more than fat so they say your best bet is to be sure to take pics at the beginning, at 30 days, at 60 days, and upon completion....trust me... if you stick with it you WILL see the difference.

My DH and I getting ready to gear up for another round shortly.

is the program doable for someone who has more weight to lose - like 75 lbs or so? Would it be too much or do you ease into it more? thanks
