PVC Tube for Animation Experience Artwork -- Allowed in the Park?

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone thinks an 11" long piece of PVC pipe (with end caps) would be refused entry into the theme parks?
Given the length, it's very light -- so don't think anyone would deem it a possible weapon and refuse entry (especially if we tell them it's to store our Animation Experience Drawings).

But I'm not sure. Any thoughts on this?

I would think that it would be banned by security. They banned Selfie sticks and a 11" PVC pipe is much longer and does not collapse as many Selfie sticks.

Have you considered an actual Art Storage tube, maybe they would allow that but I don't know.

Thanks for the response. Definitely considered an art storage tube, but ironically all those I could find were substantially larger than the 11" long (1" diameter) PVC pipe. Using PVC allows us to cut it to the shortest size needed (and is much skinnier than most of the storage tubes. Also the last 2 times we did the Animation Experience it was pouring rain -- so was looking for something water-proof rather than paper/cardboard based (we won't have a backpack or anything so will just be carrying the tube around).

I'd rethink the 'not brining a backpack' idea if you're already thinking far enough ahead to bring a tube for artwork. Carrying that thing around would be annoying.

What you might consider is getting a piece of paper laminated that is large enough to form into a tube when rolled up. Leave it flat in your backpack and bring some end caps. You could then roll it up, please endcaps on, and drop your artwork in.

Thanks for the thoughts. If the tube won't be allowed in, guess I'll need to go back to the drawing board (pun intended). I do like the laminated paper idea. One of the reasons I personally liked the PVC tube idea is that it's pretty small, but substantial enough that we would not have to be delicate with it. Actually seems like without backpacks it might be a fun item to carry around as a group "baton"...

But if it won't be allowed in the park then I agree we'd likely need to go with some form of backpack and just roll it up with some basic protection. Just need to get over the fact that my self-anointed "brilliant" idea.......isn't.

I just bring rubber bands and roll up the pictures when I'm done. Have you thought about using a paper towel tube? If you're worried about rain, you could pop them into a food storage bag and secure with a twist-tie.

Another option is to pay to have the print shipped back home. We have done this in the past for some of our prints.
We've also purchased a frame in the shop and carried the framed print as a carryon bag on the plane (this was for prints drawn at Disney Springs).

I've taken a number of the Animation classes and lol, none of them were frame worthy!

Oh, I see. I was thinking of the hand-drawn prints you can get at Disney Springs by professionals.

Right? I mean, I have kept mine, but they aren't worth looking at again. I just fold them up and put them in my pocket.

Have you considered bringing your own sketch pad? At a theme park that I go to, a lot of visitors bring their own notebook to draw in. It keeps all of the art together and allows them to see their progress through the years. Think of it like kids bringing the same autograph books for characters to sign through the years. The sketch pads come in various sizes so maybe find something that will fit in a large Ziplock. If you want to keep your art and you aren't going to bring a backpack, I would consider renting a locker.

Instead of a PVC pipe, you could cut the cardboard tube from a roll of paper towels or gift wrapping paper. Ask for a clear Disney bag at one of the stores to carry it in and keep it waterproof.
