PVB Tower Charts, Sales Date and more!!!

Based on what you all have seen in the past, do we think these prices are the best they’ll be? Do you guys think there’s a chance any additional savings could be added? I just worry that the next quarter won’t be better, or could be worse. But there’s the “what if it’s better” thought too. Very torn. I think we would have bought if MB was an option, but that $3,000 difference is hard to swallow for some reason.
I think if you are buying under 100 points the pricing will never get better. This will be the lowest price for small add ons, IMO. (I’m not saying the price is great)

Congrats on the purchase!

I'm just trying to understand why go direct though? Did you buy a fixed week? Did you do it for the blue card? Loving Poly and loving the tower are definitely great reasons to own more points there. But not necessarily reasons to buy direct vs resale. PVB resale points can also book at the tower at 11 months, no? Whether it happens on 10/15 or a few weeks later is neither here nor there in the grand scheme of things.

I was seriously considering PIT for the "right price". I felt this was priced very high but was not surprised given the pent-up demand. But having no MB felt like a poke in the eye. I don't know what will come first for us - a better deal or a tempting resale contract...
Thanks! I did not buy a fixed week and I've had a blue card since I've been a member (2015 I think?). For me, it ultimately came down to having a need to use the points for two upcoming reservations in the near term. I used and rented all my other points last year because I figured this would go on sale much earlier (for example, I bought RIV on day one in March, 2019 and the resort opened in December as well). For the aforementioned reason, MB wasn't a factor for me.

Apart from that, I agree that I was hoping for better incentives on a large purchase (I bought 500). I figured I'd at least get under $200 buying that many. But resales are hovering around what, $180 or so? And then of course there's finding the one(s) in my use year that aren't stripped, waiting 3 months, etc. In this case I'm getting full points, and after I use what I need I'll rent the rest and that gets me pretty close to the $180 or so anyway. I'm definitely not adverse to resale, I think more than half my current points are resale. But in this case, getting the points now was better for me.

I think I'm just going to wait and see what deals materialize in resale as we get to the end of the year--when MFs are starting to come due.

I completely agree and that's why I bought today. Poly is my favorite resort, I love the tower, and want to own more points there. Even if a better deal should come around, how much "better" would it be? $2pp? Who knows.
This is kind of where we are, except BWV is my favorite and I will be first in line to by points in 2042.

We take the fam for 8 days at BWV for race weekend in November in a 2 bedroom. We have some BRV points that we use to fill in when we are a little short some years, or trade into Grand Cali for a quick visit.

I am not a fan or Riviera and being out in the middle of nowhere drives me bonkers. The parking lot of the Contemporary bothers me. The Grand Flo is ok for an occasional visit. but not my fav. Enjoyed our previous stay at the Poly.

I want points for DH and I to go by ourselves and be in a nice location. We love to walk, so being able to walk to MK, the Grand Flo, and the TTC is perfect. We love Trader Sam's and the Tambu lounge.

We have blue card benefits until 2042. We are going to buy 100 to start us towards covering the gap. As we are both still working, I am not pulling money out of savings to buy. We may even add on 50 more later if we really like it. If we hate it we can always sell and get some money back.

The heart wants what the heart wants and mine wants Poly. I know nothing, but I would think they would fire sell off the cabins and Riviera before the Poly. Of course I could be so wrong, but I am pulling the trigger to make myself happy.

Even the 50-pointers are not really $180.

If you're looking at larger contracts you should be able to get them relatively easily sub $160. Maybe sub $150 (resale market is negotiable...). Yes, it's more effort and takes more time but that's a pretty substantial savings vs the $209/pt you currently get with direct for 500 points.

Magical beginnings - it’s essentially rebate for your 1st year’s points.

So, someone posted in one of the DVC groups on FB that their guide told them “it changed overnight” and current PVB owners cannot book on 10/15/24, just people with newly purchased points. I don’t have a stake in this but was just more curious if that is accurate or not. I can’t find that documented anywhere on the website.
As an existing Poly owner, I’m wondering the same; can we still book on 10/15? With only a small fraction of rooms currently declared into the association, I have been wondering about availability at that point.

It would be disappointing if a member purchases brand new, shiny points at the Poly and not be able to secure a room at the 10/15 mark, especially if every other existing owner is trying to get in the tower. Dunno. Just a thought.

Thanks for the advice!

It's no different than someone who buys new at Riviera or Disneyland Hotel today, and may have to wait a year to find availability because thousands of other owners and non-owners have already staked a claim on availability for the next 11 months.

In those cases, DVC has been known to "help" new buyers via their developer inventory. And the same is likely to happen here with Island Tower.

I don't think the pricing is bad and congratulations to everyone signing today!

I don't need or want 2024 points. Paying for financing plus the dues on 2024, 2025, and 2026 before I travel again was too much for me. Especially since we don't yet know what those dues look like.

I fully recognize I will end up paying more later, but in my use case maybe not. Will certainly be much less to manage buying when I need it instead of day one, no matter how much I want to!

Need to let the idea of not staying in a 1 bed sink in, too, before I buy direct.
