PVB studios are perfect......for some people & some stays

We need to remember that DVC/timeshares are different than cash resorts. No matter what DVD builds, people will buy the points and someone will be sleeping in the rooms.

As an owner, if you don't care for the PVB studios you can either rent out your points, book somewhere else or sell your contract. Owners will often stay at a resort because they have no other choice and/or they stay in a category of room for the same reason.

Use your points or lose them guarantees occupancy.

I have to admit we have always wanted to return to the Poly after staying there back in 2003, but with 3 kids we just knew DVC was the better choice and using points there for the rooms wasn't a good choice. We've been waiting and waiting to stay at Poly and are really looking forward to our upcoming stay there in July, especially now that the kids are so much older and can really enjoy it.

However we knew we didn't want to stay in a studio for our entire trip. We also are spoiled by having the washer/dryer in our room, especially during summer months when we have stinky and sweaty clothes and are spending lots of time at the pools too. It's nice to not have to pack as much clothing and to do some laundry during our trip to have more clean clothes options. We also don't spend a lot of time in the kitchen, but having that full sized refrigerator to pack with drinks and snacks is doing to be a bonus as well. So that's why we will stay our first 3 nights at at Poly studio just to experience it and then move on to a 1BR at Bay Lake Tower.

I really wish I could love the bungalows but really not sure it will work for us either, especially with that kind of point value. Maybe we'll try it ONE night on a future trip just to say we did it...and then move on to another room or resort.

My main reason for buying into Poly is emotional: the chance to "own" a piece of my childhood, just because now as an adult I can. Another reason is the ever-increasing tariffs on Poly hotel rooms. Memories or not, paying even the discounted rates (which are becoming harder to come by currently) conflicted with my cheap side. Since there are only two of us who travel, studios make sense, though I still wish there was a king bed in a room which could easily accommodate one.

I'm glad that a studio is all the hubby and I need. I'm on vacation so I'm not cooking. And because I always overpack... No need for a laundry. I also get Mousekeeping every day so no bed making either!
