PVB booking

Somewhere in my brain I know the answer to this, but cannot retrieve :sad2:.... that'd be a cancel and rebook, right? Not a point reallocation? So in theory you could lose your reservation?

Yes, we will cancel our AKV reservation and try to book PVB on the 25th. Trying to move 2 nights at the front of the vacation. During that period, we could lose our reservation for 2 nights. Fortunately, the time and room we have booked is still available, so I'm not terribly concerned. Worst case scenario, there are a few other resorts available that we will book.

Based on a few posts, it sounds like a few people will be watching availability on the 25th. Some will try to scoop up those cancelled rooms.
25th is going to be a very interesting day. I hope DVC computer system has enough capacity for all the interesting things that will happen that day.

Maybe I'm overthinking it, but the only legal way I could imagine having a home resort advantage for the first two weeks of booking is if the Poly condo association hasn't yet officially joined the DVC organization. Otherwise, I don't see any legal basis for the extra home resort advantage.

It's part of the docs that every resort owner will have at least xxx amount of time to book prior to non-owners being able to book. I think it may be just day but don't have my docs available to look at right now. They can designate the times - it's not fixed that exchangers are guaranteed to book at 7 months or less. But a lot of that has rule adjustments for new resorts anyway.

I bought at Kidani before it opened. And confused MS when I wanted to book elsewhere with the points, but it was done.

I went and looked at that link. The room descriptions has an interesting category I have never noticed before--"Florida Special Accessible Room" in addition to the usual hearing accessible, wheelchair accessible with tub, and wheelchair accessible with roll-in shower.
Does anyone know what a "Florida Special Accessible Room" is and how it is different?

It's hotter and more steamy than the other rooms? :sunny::furious: Sorry, couldn't resist. I've noticed some strange room descriptions coming up in the DVC booking tool too, could be they just haven't updated their language for prime time yet.

Each of the accessible room types has a description on the booking page once you select that option to view. The Florida Special usually says grab bars by the toilet, open bed frame, lower toilet height and raised toilet seat available. And hearing options available. It's not much as far as accessbility goes but maybe they have a little more room for maneuverability. I believe we've had this "category" of room once or twice at OKW.

Oh yes, I am considering the same thing. We have 4 nights at a BLT Lake View over Labor Day weekend. Right now their is still availabilty in that category. As far as I can see there are two choices for doing this (or any 7-month change for that matter).

1) Cancel the existing reservation at 8 AM and then immediately try to book the new reservation. If you miss out, you risk losing your original reservation as well if it gets "snatched up".
2) Wait until MS opens at 9 AM and have them do the transfer. The risk there is that your dates at the PVB are already taken.

In my case, the timing of early September makes the likelyhood of their being an issue slim I think, it's not a popular time for DVC travel, even over the labor day weekend. Right now there is availability at every WDW DVC resort for that weekend except GFV. My plan is to check to make sure there is still rooms available at BLT before I try to make the switch. I don't want to lose my BLT option more than I want the Poly.

I'm hoping my wait list comes through due to Poly bookings. I'll also be trying to book on the 25th, unless NY opens for purchases before then. That booking will be for DD and family, as they really want to purchase but live in NY.

I have been checking availability at PVB using the online availability tool for several dates. So far, everything after Apr. 1 shows as available in every category. But, I have read that others have been told various categories are not available when they have called to make reservations. Has anyone seen dates (after Apr. 1) that are unavailable using the online availability tool? Is the online availability tool really showing the correct availability?

I have noticed this as well. It makes me question the current accuracy of the availability tool. Of course, it isn't officially "on-line" yet for PVB, so it could well just be that the info on there isn't yet.

However, if you think about it, what % of the PVB points could possibly be sold already. 10 % at most? Since that 10% is currently spread across the entire 11 month window, it would actually be sort of surprising if many dates were completely booked up. The only time I was thinking would possibly be booked would be the opening dates (April 1st) since this is also the Easter holidays, but looking at it there is complete availabilty here as well.

The good news is we should know in two days.

I think this rumor is growing in size. From what I read it was something tweeted by one person on the very first day Poly booking opened and I've not seen anything else other than the "someone reported". I think it was inaccurate or some glitch and unless that person came back and verified that they tried again and the standard views were definitely booked I doubt whatever was "reported" was correct.

Hey, did anyone in the 7 month window ask if non-Poly points could be used for booking? Just curious. I hadn't thought about doing that, but could call back sometime in the next few days and see if it's possible to swap some out. Did do some borrowing already though from Poly points.

They are only allowing you to use PVB points until Wednesday.
We have 4 nights PVB booked and will be trying to switch 2 more nights on Wednesday morning because we can't use our BLT points until then.

Probably true. I think the report you mention is the one that I read.

I just tried the Resort Availability Tool and do not see PVB? Is it just me?

You can't put anything but dates in to see. Do not choose a room type.
Gotcha! I had to put in dates and click Find a Resort....
I was confused because it was not listed before I clicked Find a Resort.
Thanks!
