I was talking to my mom today and somehow in the conversation we decided a mother/daughter trip to WDW was in order! :cool1: We are on a tight budget of roughly $1000-$1200/each. I'm alreay in the process of renting DVC points for our room. We are planning on either Jan 16-21 or Jan. 23-28 depending on DVC/airfare/work availability.

I need a check on what I'm forgeting!! :earboy2: I don't want to not do something simple and then run out of time!

Here's the plan:

Airfare - will probably fly AA from STL

Tickets - planning on buying the old 4 day hopper from the Disney Store

Transportation - I'm leaning towards FL Tours simply because I don't want anything to go wrong and they are reasonably priced.

Meals - right now we are planning to get a Q&C voucher for B&C, probably 2 VKL for Le Cellier and CRT (did not like RFC last time we were there) and probably 1 Breakfast voucher for Boma or something like that. I'll need to price out my food budget a little better because we will have a full kitchen to cook in as well. Neither of us are big eaters, so we will probably share most of the time.

Extras - I just came back from WDW a few months ago, so I'm not planning to buy much. I'll bring something home for DH who is being a great sport about this!

Ok, what is missing? My head is swimming right now and I'm very excited!! I can't believe we are going to do this!! :cheer2:

Sounds like maybe you should book a room as a back up plan and than convert to a package. With your dining preferences you might be better off at $35 with MYW package.

That's a good idea except my mom already knows that a 1 bedroom comes with a jacuzzi tub, washer/dryer and full kitchen. I don't think we can use the dining plan staying on DVC points. :confused3

Actually $1000-1200 each is a good amount of money. I agree about buying the new tickets instead of the old 4-day PH. You might even consider pricing at a moderate resort (they all have fridges now) as January has been showing some VERY low prices.

I assume you will have FL Tours either stop at the store or pick up your faxed order for you?

Don't forget to check the JANUARY calendar for the events before you finalize the dates. If you are going to park-hop, make sure you zig when everyone else is zagging during those 'open late' nights. Go to another park during the day and slip over to the late park at regular closing.

Oh, yeah, remember to have a great time and give DH an extra big hug for being such a sweetie. I would love to have taken my mom to WDW but her health was just too bad for too long. Enjoy your trip - sounds like fun!

You may want to book an afternoon tea at GF. That would be a great Mother & Daughter event. :)

2ofus - Thanks for the wonderful advice!! I know that life is short and we are both healthy right now - I don't think there is a better reason than that to go to WDW.

She really has her heart set on staying DVC. Even if it puts us a little over, I think it will be worth it. We would skimp on food in order to make it happen.

We would have FL Tours make a grocery stop for us. We would be picking up some snacks for the room and breakfast items. We would probably pick up a few meal type things as well.

The afternoon tea sounds like a great idea, tarheelmjfan! I will have to look into that and get it booked!! Thanks for the suggestion.

i would fly down on southwest because it is cheaper and i would buy the hopper from them too since they are currently selling them at 30 bucks off the price on their website.............just a thought
