Pushing double stroller

Hi there, we have always in the past rented two single strollers for ds and dd. This time around it is just me and kiddies. So I have finally talked them both into sharing a double "buggy", they are 4 and 6 and never use strollers at home anymore.

I was thinking if I'm even going to be able to manouver it with both kids. I haven't weighed them recently but I'd bet together they must weigh 90lbs+...

Any advice?

Thanks, Daisy:sunny:

The rental strollers are very easy to maneuver. I've had both of my DDs in them at various ages (most recently 5 and 7 (combined weight 80-90 lbs?)) with no trouble at all. If you're using your own stroller, it may be tough. I'd definitely rent if I were you.

I tried a double strollar with my two with a combined weight of about 70 pounds and forget it- it was exhausting to push, difficult to navigate- the wheels on the stroller we brought were just too small. If you need one I would rent one at Disney as they have doubles with LARGE wheels that really make pushing much easier.

I had bought a single stroller for my son who was 5 last year with low muscle tone and surprise, surprise- he walked everywhere! You might want to see if that works for you or maybe bring a sturdy one person stroller from home and have them switch on and off to help defray the rental cost.

Speaking as a former and future packmule . . .

My DD's (5,3) didn't enjoy the Disney double stroller. Doesn't recline. No storage space. Plus they had to sit next to each other and fight about the seatbelts or which side they sat on. They are however very maneuverable. Plus if you park hop you can get a new one at the next park.

I'd recommend at least trying to let your kids walk. Sounds like they may be able to make it there if they aren't using a stroller at home.

Hey Daisy

I have been taking my two girls alone since they were 3 and 5, its alot of fun! I have used the rentals many a time and they are fine to push - I never found them to heavy. The cost can add up but for me traveling alone I just figured that into the cost of the vacation. I would not want to deal with the two girls and a stroller on the WDW transportation.

My girls are now 7 and 9 so thankfully we don't need the stroller anymore. Starting when the youngest was about 4/5 we did more and more walking esp in the morning and just rented as needed.
You may find that at MK, especially in Fantasyland, you may do better without the stroller. For Animal Kingdom, later evenings and especially EPCOT where there is alot of walking we would grab a stroller. IIRC we did fine in MGM in the morning without the stroller as well but we may have grabbed one later.

On the issue of the girls sharing the stroller and fighting my rule was "you argue, you walk" I was willing to follow through and it only took once for them to understand. I would always ask my oldest to get out when hitting the hill between France and the UK - it helped lots!
