Pushchairs in shops/restaurants

I've just read on a website that's for mums that you can't take your pushchair in restaurants and shops etc, you have to leave them outside. Can anyone tell me if this is true? What if my little boy is asleep, does this mean we're not allowed in anywhere until he wakes up and can walk around? I hope not cause it's much easier to look around shops when he's alseep in the buggy!

Thanks in advance

We took our buggy into several shops and at least two restaurants that I can remember - Plaza Gardens and Chalet de Marionette because Jess was sleeeping at the time so If this is a rule they are not very strict at enforcing it. We did get asked to leave the buggy at the door for Videopolis as a Lion King show was due to start.

we have taken a sleeping 3 year old into Rainforest Cafe and staff were very helpful and let us keep him in his buggy.

Thanks for your replies. I did think it sounded a bit extreme, obviously if you're child is happily walking about then you would leave your buggy outside. We're taking our own buggy and I've bought a bicycle chain so I'll use this when we leave it outside places.

Thanks again

When ds was a wake they did ask us not to bring the buggy in but in one restaurant when he was sound asleep, they allowed us to take the buggy right up to the table.

We took our own buggy (it was a bit rough round the edges) and never tied it up and it never moved from where we left it so you may not need your chain either.

I read with interest the threads above. Amber will only be 6 months old when we go and so cannot get out of her buggy and walk. Does that mean that we have to get her out everytime we go anywhere?. If we eat out in the evening then we will want the buggy to allow her to sleep if she wants to, otherwise she will have to be in our arms all the time??? Help please??

It's one thing to ask you to leave an empty pushchair outside if a child is walking but I can't believe that you would be expected to take a sleeping baby (or one too small to walk) out of their pram/pushchair, Judi.

this is Disney we are talking about nothing is too much trouble the 6 mth old baby will be fine the CM and restuarant staff will see and understand your situation and act upon this and your baby will get lots of attention. Dont worry and have fun

We've just got back with a non-walking very wide awake one year old, and wasn't asked to leave the buggy anywhere...... often we left it when we went to restuarants to put him in a high chair. We didn't chain it up, and often left it with the odd bag and cap etc. on it - it was fine. I have never seen anyone chain up a buggy - I don't think this is necessary.

We've never had any problem with taking buggy into shop or restaurant and from replies seems like you will not have a problem :)

well as you may now already know we have just got back and we had no trouble at all. Amber was wide awake for most our stay, into everything and yes you were right karengr, EVERYONE paid alot of attention to my lil sis. we weren't asked at all to leave the buggy anywhere (except Annettes and of course the rides we went on with Amber). Everyone was more than helpful and where ever possible allowed us to stay on the boats in its a small world (clearly Ambers favourite ride (I wonder why!!!!))

Jude was worrying about nothing!!!! :cool1: :rotfl:

We used a chain this time purely because we hired the buggies from the parks and they do have a tendancy to go missing.I havent heard of anyone having there own buggy go missing.
