Hi ::MickeyMo Fans,

I was wondering if it was possible to bring food into the park in your handbag or purse. I know they check through your backpack but I don't know what their purse policy is. Has anyone smuggled food in their purse into the parks before? If so, any tips?

I don't know about bringing food into the park, but purses are checked by security.

Last time we went (2001) we had some snacks with us, but not sandwhiches. They weren't checking bags then either. My Sister In Law and family went in Feb and they brought in some stuff and the CM's let it through. I don't know what exactly they brought in however. What I would think be ok is water bottles, gum, granola bars, fruit snacks. If you had bought a sandwich from the food court in your hotel, they wouldn't say anything about that (?) I could be totally wrong. I do know, no coolers.

Disney will check any and all bags that you are carrrying, but they are not looking for food. We had two young children with us in January who really didn't eat the park food very well. Their Grandma didn't wan't them to get hungry and therefore cranky, so she packed sandwiches, carrots, celery, grapes, and other finger foods each day in one of those insulated lunch bags. It was obviously stuffed with food and no one ever said a word. Not the they should have, we still bought the kids a meal at each of our food stops. In fact we probably stayed longer, therefore spending more $$$, by bringing the food into the park

We were there in Jan, brought a soft sided collaspiable(sp?) cooler in with us with drinks(no glass) and the top dry part of the cooler had snacks(fruit snacks, granola, grapes, etc.) Everything is looked through and no one said a word about our food or drinks.

We carried snacks in our backpacks and no one said anything, sometimes they wanted to keep the food because they said they were hungry :goodvibes . Also they have you open your purse, camera case etc to see inside.

i was told by the owner of our villa you can bring a backpack in (they check) and yes you can bring food in. the advertisement says you can bring a small cooler collapsing one that can fit into one of their lockers. whose to say you actually put the food in the locker? i am bringing snacks and lunch in our backpack.

There is no need to sneak in a snack. Yes, your purse will be looked through. All bags right down to camera cases are inspected

we brought pb&j's and snacks for DD's into the parks everyday. i didn't think twice about it. it never crossed my mind that this might not be allowed!! hope i wasn't breaking any rules, but CM's checked my bag and never said a word.

have fun!

Guests are on their honor with regard to complying with Disney's policies. The security guards are at the gates checking bags to ensure our safety, not enforce policy. When I last exchanged email with Disney on this subject, they indicated that beverages and "small snacks" were permitted, but guests were not permitted to carry in meals.

A few things that you will NOT be able to bring into the parks.
1. Any alcoholic beverage.
2. Anything in a glass bottle, jar, or container. [except baby food]

As others have said any reasonable amounts of snacks, sandwiches, and juices will make it past security without any problems. Don't expect to be able to bring a full picnic load of food in with you.

bottles (glass) and alcohol are not permitted....other than that, we were told by Disney that anything else is ok.....we bring in food every weekend...this week it was particularly handy since I am on a liquid diet due to my back teeth being pulled (and will be again this weekend, sigh)

Last time I went (2003), they checked each bag thuroughly, but never said anything about the food and water I had with me. A few tips I found out, tho:

1) Standing in line to get your bags checked takes even longer to get into the parks. If you are staying on-site and don't absolutely HAVE to carry a bag (like, for a morning-only trip), you can bypass the bag-checking lines and go straight to the ticket-checking lines.

2) If you do take in a bag, everyone knows to freeze thier waterbottles the night before so they melt over the day (or they should ;) ), however, if you freeze several bottles, wrap them in a towel, and then pack cold food items (yogurt, cheese, cold-cuts, etc.) between the bottles--this will keep everything cool until at least lunch--sometimes afternoon if you find a shady locker.

Happy WDW-ing!! :earsboy: :earsboy:
