Purple Magic Bands

Whatever happened to the purple magic bands? I have seen several early advertisements for magic bands that clearly show and mention purple magic bands. However they do not seem to be offered now. Does anyone know why or what happened?

I believe they were in the early concept development. They never actually existed once the actual bands were released. Many of us, me included, have been very hopeful. But I'm guessing it would have been done by now if it were going to happen.

My daughter's favorite color is purple and she was soooo disappointed when they didn't have them. So....she created her own fabric cover. Search the Internet and there are lots of tuts.

They sell accessories for the bands in the parks or at your resort gift shop. The "cover band" (see what the marketing folks did there) accessory comes in purple and you just slide the whole band into the cloth sleeve and bam - purple magic band. The accessories are all really cute.

Just cover the whole band in a few coats of purple nail polish. i painted mine with polish, it came out great and lasted the whole trip.
You can even do glitter!

I'm sure more colors are coming. If they do go with purple I hope it is a dark color and not lavender. Purple is my favorite color.

That's what I kept thinking too, but they've had Magic Bands for what...almost a year now? And they haven't really changed much. I think a PP hit the nail on the head. Why would they offer more colors in the FREE Magic Band when they can offer those colors in Cover Bands that you have to PAY for

I heard that Barney complained about Disney using the color so it became a licensing dispute.

I'm not holding my breath for Disney to come out with more colors, but it would be nice! I want simple patterns, like chevrons or polka dots. I contacted the company the who makes the vinyl decal covers and they say chevrons are coming eventually. They accept custom orders if you order at least 50, so if enough people wanted purple maybe someone could look into that and do some kind of a group buy?

Really? I didn't know Barney had a license on all shades of purple

Apparently it is the MOST asked question right now.

Rumor has it they are working on one due to the requests.

I am guessing the reason they didn't has to do with the way dyes work and cost. I wouldn't be surprised if it costs more to make them which is why they didn't make one to start with.

I painted my purple and had figment on it along with some small crystal mickey heads I added. If you do paint it purple I highly recommend you don't start with the pink. It took a lot of coats.

purple is my fav color too. Hoping they would come out with one since the whole frozen hype. but not yet
