Purple Box

Our noise machine is the best thing in our locker--we got so tired of dragging ti to Disney every time we bought another one. If I could afford to keep a laptop there, I would! I have to work on vacation, even if it's just for a few hours, so end up dragging my honking big laptop with me through the airport and then worrying about leaving it in the room, because it usually doesn't fit in the safe. I have a netbook but can't spare that one either--maybe I should invest in another one and leave it here--it never occurred to me! Owner's Lockers are wonderful!

Our's is awesome too! Along with all the stuff noted, we love to leave the kids a special note from our current trip and some Disney Dollars inside for the awesome "opening" the next time we can make it to WDW.

We also have a "Family" book where everyone writes into the journal about something special about the trip. It is always fun to read about the old trips each time.

We store a lot of what has been mentioned but we have also added a wireless modem. I bring my netbook down (maybe I should leave it there too??) - but now I am wireless. Also helps with the iTouch!

:) Chip clip, toothpicks, extra clothes hangers, extra linens. Then DH stores 100 green aliens from Toy story--think I am kidding, just ask mousekeeping they can't clean under the TV. He takes them all out and puts them back again, seriously...he has 100 on his office shelf at home, too. :sad2:

I could literally go to the airport and get on the next flight to Orlando without packing a thing and still have a wonderful Disney trip thanks to my 3 Owner's Lockers! I'd of course have my purse as always, which has my wallet (DVC card, AP, TIW card, money, CCs), my PNS camera, my iPhone, and my laptop. Literally everything else I/we need is there already. That means when it comes time to pack, I can focus on just "what do we want to wear?" (not "what do we have to have")...there are enough clothes and shoes stored that we'd be fine otherwise. (assuming I didn't have any fine dining planned...I tend to want to dress up more for that, and while the clothes I have stored would be fine for most things other than V&A, they wouldn't be fine for me) I even have running shoes and gear stored so that I can get in my morning run without taking up lots of space with running shoes in my suitcase.

More than anything, they just make our trips more comfortable and homey...I travel a lot for work, so it's nice to go to Disney and have ALL my favorite toiletries, a cozy blanket, a darned pair of scissors (OMG, the most used thing in the Lockers!), etc.

Buying DVC changed our vacation style and when we got our Owner's Lockers our style changed again. It is so easy to pack and unpack for our DVC trips. I get cranky now when we travel to other places and I have to pack all the miscellaneous stuff that is always waiting for us in our Owner's Lockers. In terms of making my vacation more stress free, Owner's Locker is the best investment we've made. And now that most airlines charge for checked baggage, Owner's Locker is a money saver because we can travel so light.

Couldn't have said it better :thumbsup2

I'm enjoying reading everyone's "love of the locker" and I can think of several items to keep in it. Just wondering what the average vacation habits are for the previous posters.. (ie; several x/year; once/year... or everyother year??). We have no set vacation routine but could certainly store things that would make flying easier. If for some reason you can't go annually, does it still pay for itself? thoughts?

We have had stored as many as 12 bottles of wine in our locker without any issue or leakage, but have always stored corked bottles. IMO, screw top wine bottles do invite some potential leakage. Was the bottle stored upright or laying down?

I know that the lockers are all kept in a climate controlled storage facility (air-conditioned) so it's not a situation where the lockers are exposed to high temperatures (or low temperatures). While the Purple Van does stay very busy every day, it rarely leaves the ground so changes in air pressure are generally not an issue. :)

I'm glad you've been able to store wine without a problem. My bottle was wrapped up tight for shipping, and stored upright, and the water bottles were too. I couldn't believe that wine had somehow seeped through the cap and turned to mold, and that the water bottles were all compressed like the air had been sucked out of them. Also, I had a bottle of liquid hand soap with a pump. The pump was locked down tight and still in the locked position, but liquid soap had leaked out all over inside the plastic bag I had stored it in. The top was tightly screwed on, too. Oh well, good thing I had it in a plastic bag because it was a mess. And yet most of the soap was still in the container (again stored upright). It worked fine once I took it out and cleaned it off. Not sure what happen, but my locker suffered a *fail* when it came to storage of those items this time.

We go to WDW several times a year. Including our trip next week, we have gotten five WDW trips and one cruise out of our locker this year. It has more than paid for itself since we got it last May.

My DH and I were talking about our locker last night, because we're coming up on our one-year anniversary. My DS and BIL live in the Orlando area and have offered to keep it at their house, but it's so much easier to have it delivered directly to the resort. We're also planning to take another cruise later this year, and the guys will deliver the locker right to the airport so we can take it on the cruise again. As my DH said, the convenience makes it completely worth the yearly fee.

Generally once a year. The stuff I keep in there can be stored for a year without a problem. I don't keep food or drinks in mine.

When we signed up it was once a year, but a lot has changed in our lives since then. Now it looks like we'll be in WDW twice a year at least for the next two years. We had thought about going to some of the foreign Disney parks, but perhaps now we will be back at WDW in 2013.

Thanks to all who have responded. I think we are going to take the purple plunge! We have a trip in August which we will have a car, so we can stock the OL full on that visit. We don't usually rent a vehicle, so we may need to replenish by bringing select things with on future trips or using one of the grocery delivery services.

One thing I didn't see on anyone's list is a small tool kit -- we need it to get those darn monorails out of the box! We will also leave band-aids, a nite-lite, laundry supplies, nail clippers, ziplocks and foil, chip clip, ponchos/umbrella, sunscreen and lotion, TP/paper towel, hangers, batteries, portable speakers, spray bottles, corkscrew, beach balls, water torpedo, scissors, coffee supplies, salt/pepper and I'm sure we will come up with other items between now and August :thumbsup2
