Purell in carry on bags?

As it's alcohol based, is it permitted in your carryon luggage? I like to use it frequently when I travel because washing my hands isn't always convenient.

I carry a small bottle in my purse and it has never been a problem.

You can bring alcohol in your carry on bag anyway.
