Pure thoughts?

Are nuts and seeds ok? Gotta have my nuts
hehe, i will leave that alone! lol
Well I'm just learning it myself - but I think nuts and seed are fine.
I checked on dates - I like dates as a treat.
And there is a sweetener you can have agave- it just taste sweet-
no funny flavor to it - its near the honey in your store.

gluten is the hardest one to weed out.

i use agave, love it, i get it at stop and shop right next to the honey
i also use raw sugar, but if i do this 21 day thing i would have to give that up:scared1:

I have agave syrup already. It'll never replace sugar for me..but it's not bad at all.

Gluten: no bread, no pasta, no pizza of course..what else has gluten?
If it's made from or has wheat flour in it - it's OUT!

I think it would be out - no fake sweetener either.
So - good bye diet soda - I think that leave water or tea with agave.

Isn't agave the plant they use to make tequila? :confused3

Good for you Wally, all the power to ya! I've been doing a lot of reading on all of the crud that I put into my body and yikes...reading labels is a reality check. I decided to eliminate meat, soda, and refined sugar as a start, and on week three I'm not missing it too much. There's a lot out there that is dairy free, gluten free, etc. if you are not afraid to try something new!

This is a place to start...

I'm still figuring out what I'm going to eat myself.

thanks for the link, i will check it out.
yes i am being converted........a year ago from last winter i went vegan after Eat to Live by joel fuhrman.......i felt soooo good following the program......but i fell off the wagon a bit and started eating more junk.........and i notice a difference in how i feel. energy wise. so i want to get back to eating way better.
i really noticed a difference the most after i took dairy out of my diet. but it snuck back in lately and i want it out again!!! LOL

come on Rosie, join in..........i will definitely be cranky without caffeine!! lol

More power to you guys. I am still adapting to my own changing dietary limitations. I call it practice for gastric bypass.

I have severely limited my fat intake. I have found that palm, sunflower, and vegetable oils cause me discomfort that requires a quick trip to the potty. So, olive oil and butter are being used in extreme moderation. I have decreased my beef intake. Lots of chicken, I should cluck. Even though Corey hates fish and is allergic to shellfish, I am trying to eat more of it, because I like it and in general, it's lower fat. I have increased my intake of beans. I have eaten lots of rice and backed potatoes. Whole grain bagels and lowfat cream cheese are my breakfast food of choice. I have found that a serving of juice goes a long way to help me make it to lunch without the urge to snack. Desserts have become limited to a few pieces of dried pineapple, some cherry flavored craisins, or some flavored pecans or walnuts. This is a big change for me.

I rarely eat out anymore unless it's "date night" with Corey and even then we are making different choices. Ted's Montana Grill serves buffalo. Buffalo is much lower in fat and it tastes really good, so while ungodly expensive, it's just once a month, so it's managable. We also have found some reasonable choices at a few other places close to home. Overall, any changes in diet make a difference.

I have lost 18 lbs in the past 3 weeks.

Can I switch to "baked" cheetos and bud light? :confused3

I mean, the wind has finally picked up, so officially I think we are in a tropical storm now! I need my energy!

Clean livin' n' self-denial :thumbsup2 -- it's how we sons n' daughters of Zion do it... (actually we don't really live all that long (deaths from green jello overdosing are a deep dark guilty secret) ; it just SEEMS that way)

Ahhh .... what?
Is this some kind of coded message for a sleeper cell?

Did a test run of this "Cleanse" thing for diner last night -
Seems totally doable so far-

I did a kind of "vegan lite" thing a while ago - for about 3 months -
that was no problem so I think I'll be fine -
only thing different is now - I go to the gym most everyday -
so I'm not sure how that will factor in.

well today i decided in preparation i would only have one cup of tea or coffee........instead of my usual 2-3......and omg i have the caffeine withdrawal headache already.
i am going to be soooooo cranky 21 days with no caffeine!!!! LOL

i will be ok with the rules except will miss sugar and caffeine. :)

Wally,
When I got to work this morning I found that my boss has quinoa pasta in the pantry. Not sure who bought it or why, but there it was. Gluten free. Not sure if it has other forbidden ingredients, but you can look for it at your grocery if you are interested. :confused3 She bought it at Whole Foods.
