I am interested in purchasing a Disney Vacation, and have a ton of questions, and here are just a few. Whatever you may be able to help me out, would be great.

1. Does Disney allow 2 people/families to purchase one vacation, and split the points, or the years?

2. How difficult is it to book vacations at non-disney resorts, is there a value?

3. Advantage to buying directly from Disney vs. resale? Regarding resales, none list years remaining, how does that work?

Thank you so much!!:bounce:

Disney allows 4 people to be on the contract. You can do it how ever you want. My mother, sister, daughter and I were on it first. When my son turned 21, we added him and took my mother off. If is ofcourse up to you as to who uses the point and when. It can get bad if you don't all agree. I would suggest that someone be in charge of them, so if banking is needed it gets done. You would hate to have them lost because you thought someone else was banking them. We take family trips so most of the time we all go. I am the one who usually does the planning and takes care of the reservations. I have booked for my daughter and son separately. We have told the kids that when we get too old, they will both have half of them. We have booked at The Jefferson in Washington, The Plaza in NY, and the Marriott Newport Beach in CA. We had no trouble with any exchange, but you should make II exchanges very far in advance. We bought all our points from Disney. It was easier for us than going through someone else. You have to weigh the closing cost. Disney has none and the others do. It is a great investment and we are so glad we did it. All contracts are out 2042. It does not matter who you buy them from.

I have my kids on my contract as owners so there are 4 of us on our contract. I have had no problems booking Vero Beach, even though I am an Old Key WEst owner. I have also stayed at the Woodstock Inn in VErmont and the Claremont Spa & REsort in Berkely California was available - I just couldn't go. I have booked my home resort at 10 months out. Vero Beach at 8 weeks out. Too many people on the contract that are not very close family may be a problem unless you all agree on how the points are to be used. One person may want a mega vacation one year and leave few points for the rest the following year. I bought enough points to allow my wife and I a minimum of one vacation per year in a studio, and the possiblity of letting my college aged kids each take at least one vacation per year in a studio. I figured I needed at least 240 points to do this and it may require some borrowing if everyone decides to go in one year. Make sure you understand the point schedules and how much you will need to acomplish what you want. Just some food for thought.

All contracts expire in 2042 whether they are resales or purchased directly through Disney. Also your best value for your points is to use them at DVC resorts. However ther is nothing wrong with an ocasional non-Disney trip. It will just use more points.
