Purchasing WDW Tickets Separate from Hotel - Quick Question

Hello! I'm trying to figure out if I can swing a WDW vacation in early December. My question is if I buy tickets on the WDW website now (without a hotel package) are those tickets able to be cancelled with a refund or are they able to be transferred to a different date? It is my understanding that if I put a $200 deposit down on an actual vacation package, I could cancel and get a refund or I could move my deposit to a different time. I am just curious how it works if I am only purchasing stand-alone park hopper tickets. Thanks!
 
You can change the dates on your tickets. If the new ones cost more, you’ll pay the difference, of course, but if they cost less you won’t get a refund. I believe you might be able to change dates online, but if not you can call.

Oh, good to know! Thank you. So one more question, do you think the park tickets will go up for the first week in December? Would you purchase them as soon as you booked a hotel?

If I had the cash, I’d buy as soon as I was certain of my dates, because prices for individual dates can go up without warning or even any notice.
 

Also look at Undercover Tourist for purchasing tickets. They can sometimes be a little bit cheaper and they do offer a refund within a year (less 5%). Info below: Lots of people have used them - I believe the are a DIS sponsor:

Also you never *lose* the value of the money paid on unused tickets, but they do become a sunk cost in that they are not refundable.
