Hello!

OUr family will be staying at the BWV next month. It is our first time at a DVC resort, and we actually are renting points from an owner. We hope to check out the whole program and decide to become owners ourselves!!

With that being said, I know we'll have questions regarding our stay. I usually try to check the DVC boards here for answers before posting, but I apologize in advance if the topics have already been covered.

The first thing is RE: park passes. We intend to be in the parks every day, so we're considering UPH. We're frequent visitors to WDW, but usually those passes are booked directly with our room at a non-DVC resort. Because we're renting points, is it still possible to purchase UPH? Does anyone have any advice as to the best way to order them? I know that it usually pays to purchase tickets in advance, but I wasn't exactly sure how it works with DVC.

Thanks in advance!!

You cannot purchase the UPH in advance--that's a limitation that applies to all DVC members.

DVC members are eligible for a 10% discount off of the "Gate" price of the UPH. This would put the final cost at a few percentage points lower than the normal advance purchase price. However, since you are not actually a member, you may not be able to take advantage of this discount. It used to be that anyone staying at a DVC resort using points could obtain the discount, but more recently DVC has been insistent on members presenting their official member ID card in order to obtain discounts. There's really no way to know whether you'll get the discount or not until you arrive.

You should also be able to "drop" the arrival day and/or departure day from your UPH if necessary. That may help you avoid paying for days you cannot not use. When the UPH is purchased in advance, dropping days is not an option.
