So, I did an RCI exchange and am staying at AKL and my reservation is now through DVC. Last time I called, they asked if I wanted to purchase tickets.

So, I can purchase tickets through disney, through DVC, or through undercover tourist with the extra discount from some newsletter.

The last time I talked to disney, they said it is better to purchase tickets through them because they will replace them if lost.

So, can you purchase tickets through Disney or DVC and use gift cards to pay for it (I have the 5% target red card plus the 5% pharmacy rewards right now). I just can't decide if it is better to purchase through DVC, Disney, or a discounted place.

Pros and cons for the choices?? Money is a factor in my decision, but not at the expense of replacement or being able to link to magic bands, etc.

THANKS!!!

I think the only tickets you go through DVC for are the member AP and PAP. Since you are not a member, you can go through Disney or Undercover Tourist.

I've done an RCI exchange into DVC. If I remember, you have to call the portion within DVC that deals with RCI. They allow you to set up dining plan, add members, add room requests, etc. I don't remember them offering me tickets, but if they offered them to you I wouldn't be surprised. It is probably just setting you up with the one's you can get through Disney - you wouldn't be able to get the discounted tickets.

I've bought tickets through Undercover Tourist. It is true that with Disney, they can find your tickets by the credit card you use. But with UT, if you take a picture of the number on the back of the ticket (ie. with your cell phone), Disney can find the ticket using that number. So I wouldn't be too worried about the loss aspect. I know some people have had luck tying the UT ticket to their room keys - but I've tried it two times, and both times we have had significant problems and could not do it. Both times we had to get a separate ticket (different from the original ticket) after trying to add the original ticket to the room key. I will still probably buy from UT again, I just will not try to add it to our room key. Not sure how it is going to be handled with the new wrist bands.
