Hi all! My Disney account is healthy, but I will be using a large portion of the $$$ on a new car in the near furture (whenever my old car dies) maybe that might be 6 months, might be 2 years. (1991 Tempo, 90,000 miles odometer). I hope I'll have a good chunk on cash left over for another WDW trip in a year or so. I'm wondering if I should start buying tickets in advance, to spread out the cost? I was looking at 7DHP WDW and 3 day tickets Universal. Another thing I need to consider is I'm getting a good little monthly interest on the Disney account so I'm making money while it sits in the bank. Do you spread out the cost? S

Depends on when you are going. I would purchase them whenever you can, it does hedge against ticket increases.
I guess you have to weigh the amount of interest you will loose against the amount of a ticket increase.
The interest being paid by most financial institutions these days is minimal (actually pathetic) however the usual increase for tickets is not.

Since they never expire, you will always be able to use them. You could save money by buying now in case the price increases.
If you have a discount membership now (i.e. Disney Club) you could purchase the tickets or vouchers now at your local Disney Store using the discount and not activate them until your trip for a possible increased savings.

Just a thougth,

On the other hand, WDW tickets are not refundable. Once you buy them, they're yours. The $$ spent cannot be easily recovered to use for something else - (like a car emergency).

Just something else to consider.

Go ahead and buy, but make sure you have a safe place for them. If you can't make it for 10 years, they are still good. If at anypoint you decide you want to go, it becomes much more feasable without the major financial burden of buying tickets. I always try to maintain a park-hopper with a couple of unused days so I can have a Disney getaway, even if money is tight.

I was there 5 years ago for 2 days for a convention. I bought 7 day hoppers, used only 2 days. Nnow after saving up money, I was able to book the CBR instead of the all-stars since I didn't have to budget for tickets. Luckily for me, that has now turned into a AKL Savannah view thanks to Disney closing the CBR. If I had to buy the tickets now, I would still be in a AS resort. So instead of spending $500 on tickets, I'm had a deluxe resort, and have enough left over to do V&A for a first time. I couldn't be happier. If I don't use the entire tickets, I'll start planning a weekend getaway.

One thought about the future savings VS savings acct interest:

You will get a VERY small amount of interest, and have to turn around and pay income tax on it!

There is not any income tax on money saved! :p

I'd buy the tix and have a blast!!!

Have fun!

i say buy now make a copy of the back of the ticket and place in a different safe place and use when you go....
