Hi guys ........... details deleted

....... how does this whole process work. I'm nervous about renting pts from a total stranger. Do sellers book your trip or do you? Are tickets sold seperately? I and DH are only visiting Epcot and Hollywood Stud. Can DME be included as well?

As you can see I have alot of questions and concersn and many more. But if anyone can point to the right direction, that would be great. Thank you in advance. heelppppppp. :confused3

that's normal.

Do sellers book your trip or do you?

you aren't renting pts, you are renting a reservation. the owner controls the reservation until you check in...you cannot call DVC directly to change or correct anything about the reservation.

Are tickets sold seperately?

yes. you can get tickets online or through wdw...however you prefer.

Can DME be included as well?

yes.

please don't post rental requests on any board except the rent/trade board...the stickies on that board will help you with formatting. you might also find this thread useful:

For some people, the peace of mind they get booking through Disney is worth the additional cost vs. renting from an owner in a private transaction. You may or may not be one of those people. But definitely read the link provided!

When you rent a reservation from a DVC member, Disney is not involved in that reservation in any way. If there are problems, it's between you and the member. If that worries you, you are better off renting directly from Disney.

Nope, you cannot. They only will give information from a DVC account (including reservation confirmations) to the DVC member. The member should send you a DVC confirmation though, to put your mind at ease. As stated above, Disney is not involved in your end of the reservation when you rent points from a DVC member. You are recognized as a guest of the DVC member upon your checkin, but Disney's obligation is to the DVC member.

Charles, thanks for that link! We just purchased BLT, but we already had an existing reservation with rented points at BWV for later this year. It was great to be able to confirm those reservations through the webpage. How long has that been available?

not sure. maybe it was new for 2010 or maybe it started late 2009.

but it is a help for renters...

I'm the type of person who would stress over a private transaction. I've been around here long enough that if I needed to rent points, there are people who rent their points who I'd contact (and probably offer a premium to, so I get their points), but they aren't really "strangers" they are "long time internet acquaintances." Generally things don't go wrong - but I'm not the sort of person who can soothe their anxiety by knowing generally things don't go wrong.

Know yourself. DVC rentals can be a great bargain, but the bargain isn't worth sleepless nights - if you are the anxious type.

Also keep in mind the differences in cancellation policies.

With a direct reservation through Disney you can pretty much cancel right up until the last minute and not lose anything.

When renting from a member any cancellations may result in losing part or all of your money. DVC rules heavily penalize members for late cancellations. Most owners aren't willing to risk the loss of their points and require pre-payment from renters with strict cancellation clauses and penalties.

The big thing you need to know about renting a DVC reservation is that you cannot just find a member to make the reservation a month or two ahead of time. Most members book at 11 months out.
