I know the minimum buy-in thru Disney is 160 pts. currently. What if you only buy 50 pts. thru resale? I haven't heard much about folks buying small amounts of points thru resale, paying cash as they go, until they get the amount of points they want. Is there a minimum of points you have to own to begin using DVC? I have a pretty good understanding of how DVC works but am a little fuzzy when it comes to resales. Thanks!

owning 50 points via resales will allow you all the same DVC benefits as anyone who bought 160 directly through Disney.

No one but you, will ever know how many points you have (well, you and Disney)..

Thanks, Plantlady. I figured as much. Was thinking of taking this route until I could get 270+ points but I keep changing my mind 'cause I would lose years. I want the full 50 years! DD10 is a huge incentive for doing this.

We bought 50 points 3 years ago and it was great. We use them every year. Disney treats us exactly the same as every other DVC owner. How many points you own or where you buy them makes no difference to them!
We did just yesterday buy 205 SSR points!!!! We finally wanted more! We are buying those through resale as well. We will be selling our 50 HHI points in the next few weeks. You can PM me if you are interested. We are waiting to see if me sister wants them first. We wangt to just have the points at 1 resort.
We did find that buying 50 to start was great for us though. At that time that was what we could afford and it was a great way to test the club out. Kind of get our feet wet if you will. By the way WE LOVE IT!
Best of luck.
Heidi
