My husband and I are thinking of adding on with points at the Grand Floridian. How long will they be selling? How long will the prices stay at this level? We are going on a disney cruise in Sept. Are the incentives to add on while on a cruise worth it? So much to think about! Any suggestions? Thanks

The current pricing is "construction" pricing. Scheduled to open October 23rd 2013. There are no incentives, so my guess would be that they will keep these prices until the resort opens. The only reason I jumped on the purchase now, was to book a stay in December this year. If you're not looking to stay there in the first 6 months then there is no reason to purchase now. Wait till you're ready.

There is a lot of excitement surrounding the resort, but it's not gonna sell out in a year.

There used to be an additional discount to purchase on a cruise, but as of late, I believe the incentives onboard have been the same as all other locations.

My guide stated the $145 per point price is rock bottom. They will not be offering any incentives... Prices will increase to $150 in June. CMs don't even get a discount to purchase at GF.

We currently have 160 points at AKL and love it there. Have had dvc for a few years now and just love being members. Every time a new resort comes open (BLT, Hawall, VGF), I get an urge and would love to get more points - even just 75-100 more for a quick trip at a different resort than AKL, but living in middle America and doing more than 2-3 trips a year gets tough.....so reality sets in. While I LOVE everything about my DLR/WDW vacations - I just honestly know it's not a great choice to get more. Kinda bums me out but oh well. :confused3

I hope those who want to buy in the VGF get to do so. Its a great feeling owning Disney DVC. ;)

At that price im okay with just my 3 home resorts which my point price was less then half that price. When I signed for VWL they gave us a voucher for dinner and I opted for not selling back my first year and double up on points.Every 250 point signing i had 500 points and that put us on 2 DVC cruises plus rooms and put my sister in a 2 bedroom at BCV for xmas.At $145.00 with no incentives is a joke.

We currently own in beach club villas have 300 points got a call to add on yesterday from our dvc agent Do u think it will be hard to get in if it is not our home base. We would need a 2 bedroom but I just don't know if adding on is worth it ,we love the grand Floridian just don't know if it is gonna be hard getting availability because its small at 6 months out. She suggested adding on any suggestions? Thanks

It is very likely that VGF will be one of the more difficult resorts to get into at 7 months.

If you read through the GVF info on this board and others, you will see this will be a very small resort. There are only 47 dedicated 2BRs and 47 lock-off 2BRs in addition to 6 GVs. That means there are only 47 studios and 47 1BRs available to book at any given time. If you want either of those room categories I would think it will be nearly impossible to book one if you don't own pts there. If you are booking a 2BR you would have a better chance, but not much.

I would also think that given how expensive the pts are, those that do choose to buy in would do so to use their points at the GFV, so less would open up at 7mo than other resorts.

I am not sure anyone can predict the future on this, but there are two factors that made me rhink it will be a tougher resort (although always possible) at 7 months:

- To date, it will be the smallest DVC resort at WDW. It is smaller then VWL and almost 1/3 the size of BWV. So, not many rooms. Of course, VGC is half the size, so it is at least bigger then that.

- I am guessing a higher percentage of people buying VGF plan to use them at VGF. At this price, you are most likely not doing "add ons", etc. to use points at other places regularly. It just means a higher percentage of points (which is only a guess here) purchased for VGF will be used for 11 month booking and not general DVC use.

I am just guessing this will make it tougher. However, tougher just means perhaps just more flexibility needed with dates and room types at 7 months. I am sure it does not mean you are locked out all the time!

I think adding onto these reasons is the steep point charts. At some of the other desirable DVC resorts, people will take a bigger villa or better view than they wanted just to be able to get into the resort. But with points costs as high as they are at VGF, that may be tougher pill to swallow.

Yeah...to me BLT and now VGF are for 2-3 night trips w/out the kids (where DH and I could get a studio). We're doing BLT for the 1st time in Oct...just DH and I for 3 weeknights in a studio. If, going as a family, we're going to shell out the points we'd want BCV.

Wait..so the brand new resort, VGF (I'd love to stay there..model rooms look great!) is selling at $10-$15 pp LESS than old established VGC?:confused3

PS..where are the point charts? On DVC Member site yet?

There will always be periods when it will be possible to book it. Probably not the first year, but later, yes.

There are only 8 (I think) 2BR value units at AKV, but I booked 2 consecutive weeks in a studio for September.
Chances for Christmas? Almost none. But with flexibility it will be bookable.

If someone could clarify this my dvc agent and the point sheet says 3 bedroom villas I thought it was the only dvc with a 4th bedroom . I don't think my dvc agent was accurate with her description she also had to look up the answers to the questions I was asking her and she also told me it would be two floors for the three bedroom. I don't think she is correct. I got off the phone yesterday and was a little confused with her answers.I told her that is not what I understand it to be she seemed really busy and said she had to go!!Can anyone explain? I didn't call her she called me!:confused3

When the plans were submitted, it looked like there would be four-bedroom villas. Those turned out to be good old grand villas with three bedrooms and a "media room" that has a pullout couch (but no closet, so not a technical bedroom).

Thank u, so what was my dvc agent saying about 2 floors was she correct or is the three bedroom villas one floor. I thought they were one floor because there was only 6 of them the side facing the magic kingdom

It looks like, from the floor plans, that the grand villas are 1 floor.

I'd love to see some floor plans.... they must exist somewhere as it seems odd to start selling with no examples of what you are buying into.
