I've been checking the Dollar daily through Comparetravelmoney.com and the best rate is with an internet company called Crown Exchange. We're not going until November and if I request delivery of dollars in October and pay now I get a rate of 2.0105.

Has anybody used this Company - experiences please??? Good or Bad !!!

Thanks x

we have recently ordered with them for september :) i spoke to them on the phone and they were very helpful and also other people on here had used them

I've used them although not for months ahead. I just paid and had the money sent immediately.

The service is efficient and they certainly have the best rates that I've seen.

Haven't used crown exchange but for what it's worth we used Saga last week and the service was great. We ordered late Sunday night, I got a call asking for DH on monday morning who wasn't here they asked me some security questions, confirmed that was fine and dollars arrived first thing tuesday morning. Would def use again (and we got a better rate than they quoted us when we purchased).

My Mum ordered the week before from Tesco's and had a terrible time, the bills were ripped (probably in a money counter, and it was the $100's) they refused to take them back, would only accept the whole amount back through the post (would you send £2000 cash through the post?????) to give her a refund. In the end she got in touch with the US treasury who confirmed that from her description the bills should be fine.

I booked our $ with Crown Currency approx 3 months ahead of our December 2006 trip and got an excellent rate.

The whole transaction was smooth and stress free. They supplied me with a mix of small and large demonination notes as requested, with the bulk of our holiday money in travellers cheques. You are able to specify a delivery date and our currency arrived by recorded delivery as promised. I would definately use them again.

The downside of this method of exchange is that by the time you take delivery the $ rate may have risen to the rate Crown Currency gave you a few months previously and you will have missed out on interest gained on your savings. But, that's the gamble you take - if we knew what the £ will do against the $ in the future we would all be currency traders!

My $2000 from Crown Currency Exchange just arrived, got a rate of 1.97 and that was over a month ago!

Fantastic, would definitely use them again although with the rate so high, the Nationwide Credit Card might be a better bet than changing a lot at the moment.

I usually use OnlineFX which has good rates but charge £5 delivery. I've never had any problem with them though and delivery was always the next working day.
I was thinking of using Tesco this year but have now been put off by PoppyAnna's comments!
Has anyone else used Tesco?
The Thomas Exchange rate is currently 1.9641. has anyone actually used them before?

If you have a Tesco store that sells currency I would go in there. The rates were even better than on the internet, I got a rate of $1.947 last Wednesday when even Travelex was showing $1.943 :cheer2:
