Purchasing APs

We will be buying APs for our trip in November. What is involved when you purchase them at the theme park gate? Do you have to fill out a bunch of paperwork or anything? How much time is involved?

How much time would we save if we purchased them ahead of time through disneyworld.com?

I'd rather not buy them ahead of time and have to keep track of the vouchers and remember to bring them with us. And, I also don't want to shell out the $$ before I have to.

How much of a hassle is it to buy them at the MK gate?

You'll have to go to the ticket window to "redeem" your vouchers anyway -- it's really just as easy to buy and activate the APs when you get to the park.

Cool - I guess we're purchasing at the gate then.

The only real reason I could see for buying them ahead of time is if you know of an upcoming price increase and could save money by purchasing ahead of time. There was just a price increase earlier this year so another shouldn't come for a while.

Yup, it's quick and easy! We always buy our AP's at the ticket windows, either at Epcot or MK it seems. It's never taken more than 5 - 10 minutes tops.

I buy mine early because I like to spread my vacation costs out as much as possible. I bought my airfare one month, had my food and wine festival activities hit my account another, bought my AP another. I'm going to do enough spending when I get down there, it's just easier to budget over time for me.

We always got ours at the park, but no more. This past August we got to the window at the MK and their 'puters went down and all they could sell were day passes. Later that day we got to upgrade them, but from now on we'll buy in advance.

It only took us 5-10 minutes to redeem them at Guest Relations at Epcot. Just remember to bring your picture ID with you. I too like to spread my expenses out and the AP's are normally the first thing I buy (vouchers from the DS) and I think that for next year I may even buy them one at a time to really spread things out. I like to have it all paid before we go so there are no surprises!

We always buy ahead of time to spread out the expense and have them paid before I get there. I also like to have the vouchers with me in case I get an AP rate on the room - I've always been able to check in with just the voucher so don't have to get to a ticket window before check in.

I've been going back and forth on this myself - I'd like to have it paid and done for before I go, but then again, I'm flying a couple thousand miles and that's one valuable piece of paper/card I don't want to loose.

Since there is no monetary savings buying them ahead of time, I think I've decided to wait until I'm at the gates.

That's gonna be an expensive morning, though - paying the balance on the room and the AP at the same time. It's ok 'cause I know the pain will go away as soon as I see that great big castle. :)
