Purchasing Airfare Question

Our family of 6 is going to Disney/cruise in December....actually just after Christmas. I have some SWA travel funds so I would like to fly with them. I know the booking dates open with them in the next month or so and my question is:
Should I book as soon as the booking dates open?

I know with SWA that you can change if the rates drop so I have that protection but I'd also rather not have money sitting in an account with them as we don't travel too much.

So what is the trend these days with booking airline tickets

For travel at a peak time like Christmas, my experience is that rates only go up. As a result, I would recommend buying the day that the schedule opens (currently they say that on June 4 they are opening for bookings through Jan. 4).

Book as soon as the dates open. You'll have the best fare selection (unless there is a sale later, doubtful around the holidays) and you can make sure you get the flight you need to fly with your family.
