Purchased Disney GC at Target ISSUE

Anywhere I have ever purchased gift cards, I ALWAYS ask for printed copy of the activation receipt. There has always been a separate printed activation receipt which is different from the receipt that shows a list of all of the items I purchased. When using them as Christmas gifts, I also provide the person that same receipt in the event of any sort of activation error, so I don't have to be the 3rd party trying to resolve their issue. I can't speak to what Target does/doesn't do and perhaps it was a new employee who did something incorrectly. Any store/chain that claims they have a policy of NOT providing activation receipts is one I would NEVER buy gift cards from.

… I did my debit card, got the notification that the amount had been taken out of my bank account and went on my way... So I lost out on $200 (different trips, thankfully) But it's the point that there's nothing they can do, and I lost the money each time.
They could have refunded you, they chose not to bother. After attempting to work through it with the merchant you should have filed a dispute with your bank over the charge because your goods were not received. Debit card protections are not quite as strong as cc protections but this is still an option. The window on that is limited so it’s important to file the dispute within like 60 days or something.

I know it’s too late to get your $400 back but now you know for the future.

Got one at Walmart this week. I put an odd set amount on it and at the top of my grocery reciept it showed that it had been activated.
