If I want to buy a new December UY master contract today (and get the $500 disney visa credit, plus the '06 points, plus the 270 promotional points) does anyone know how much I need to pay TODAY? What about the balance? When will it be due?

The deposit (10% down) needs to go on your Visa by tomorrow if you want the $500 reward dollars. Good luck!!

I don't think you can buy a new master contract with the Dec. UY and get the ' 06 points. I tried last week and my guide said they counld only give me the '06 points if it was a add on contract and we already had a Dec.UY. I would call your guide and ask though, sometimes you get different answers from different people.

yes you can- we did it today - the only resort you can't do this at is AKV because it didn't have 2006 points. You have to buy 160 points minimum, you only get the dev. pts at SSR, but you can get the 2006 points for all of the resorts. We added on at BWV because that's where we like staying most - you have to bank same day, but it's doable. We called this morning, pts are added and banked already!

I think this is a case of some guides being misinformed - we have an existing master contract w/ Sep use year, and just did a new one today with a Dec use year for 160 pts at VB and 200 at BWV,we got all 2006 points and banked them already on the new contract- so it definitely can be done. I know we had to buy 160 minimum to have a different use year, but that was the only requirement. (that and move quickly before end of Nov!) Hope this helps -

That's an "add on". That's why I put the quotes around it. A new member could not buy and get the 2006 points as I understand it. After today, the point would be moot anyway.

It will be a new master contract, not an "add on". In order to be an "add on" it would have to be the same UY as the member's current master contract, and be given the same contract number with an ".001" extension. This contract has a different UY so it will have a different contract number with an ".000" extension and a new membership number to go along with it.

Since I've been hanging out here on the DVC boards, even new members purchasing their first master received a full set of current Use Year points for those resorts that had points for that UY (AKV being the exception since it starts with UY 2007). Anyone (current member or new member) purchasing a new master with a Dec UY no later than Nov 30th* at a resort other than AKV would get Dec '06 points with their purchase because they are still in their 2006 UY. Similarly, anyone purchasing a new master with a Feb UY would start with Feb '07 points if they purchase prior to Feb 1st* and start with Feb '08 points if they purchase between Feb 1, 2007 and Jan 31, 2008.

* ETA: Based on Mamadis' comments below, I should amend my comments. It appears (and makes sense that) a non-member should not wait until the very last days of the UY to purchase since there would not be time to get them set up in the system before the end of the UY.

Were you able to get the new master contract? We were buying our first contract. I wonder if that made a difference. Our guide was pushing a June UY and said we would not be in the system fast enough to bank the '06 points so a Dec. UY would not benefit us even if he sold it to us.

That's the point. Whether it is an add on contract or not, it is an "add on" in the sense that the person is already in the system. That was exactly the point I was making.

They give you a couple of weeks to work it out. You can send a check, charge the balance to a card (we will probably charge the balance to Mickey's Visa so we can get the reward dollars, or our Delta Amex for FF miles, and then pay it off immediately) or complete financing through Disney. DVC is always happy to make it easy to give them $!

What ended up happening with us was a little bit complicated, but in the end I"m happy. I'd call it legendary Disney magic at its best!
