purchase of unused disneyland hopper passes

What is the rule of buying remaining days of a hopper pass that someone else used first ? I thought that only first time user could use these passes. i see alot of people resale these items on ebay and other sites.

By Disney rules they are non-tranferable and you would take a risk buying them.

I wouldn't want to risk it since there is no way to know if there are any days left. The last 2 times we've gone to DLR I've found someones tickets laying around. (I guess I could have sold them on ebay! ) First time it was one 5 day PH and last time it was 3-2fer tix. I thought about if there was anyway I could use the tix to get my DM her AP (upgrade to it), for a brief minute, or so. Besides the fact that I couldn't figure out a way to do it (and my DSis really thought it was doable) I didn't want to risk the extreme embarrassment if I gave one of the tix to my DM to use and she was stopped at the gate with the CM saying something like...."This tix has been reported lost", or "there are no days left on this tix", etc. There is no way you can go to guest services, IMHO, and ask them "how many days do I have left" Especially if it's a recent tix. I mean really, do you think they honestly think you've forgotten how many days you've gone on a tix that's only been purchased recently.

As for the tix I found, I turned them into Lost and Found. Hopefully the guests who lost them got them back All 4 of the tix were unsigned. Helpful hint to those with paper tix-sign your tix and put your phone number on it. Just in case!
