Purchase Insurance or Not?

Add me to the list, I always get trip insurance for our family cruises. It is worth it for my peace of mind. Nearly EVERY cruise I have been on with DCL has had a medical emergency of some sort.

Rae, your daughter was beautiful and what a wonderful thing you are doing to promote organ donation. I also am a firm believer in organ donation and how amazing that a bit of your daughter lives on in others. :)

Rae-

Not out of line at all, and I'm sorry for your loss. Our life insurance agent gave us the same scenario, and we also took out a policy on our son for that very reason.

I guess Grand Cayman would be adequate, but I sure the heck would NOT want to be admitted to a hospital in Cozumel!!

I wouldn't let any medical person do anything more invasive than listening with a stethescope to anyone in my family in St. Maarten, Cozumel, or pretty much anywhere in the Caribbean except maybe St. Thomas. (Even there I wouldn't leave their side, and would inspect every bottle, needle, and instrument before they got near us with it, even if it meant I was in the OR with them.) I'd let the ships Dr. handle stabilization and then medivac out, even if the cost came out of my own pocket. I'd rather spend the $15k than expose my loved one to AIDS, Hepetitus, menangitus, staph infection, or just about anything else.
