Just off the 7 night NYE Magic cruise - had a great time even tho the weather wasn't too great.

Too bad we don't need more points because the incentives they offered to buy or add on at SSR or AKV were outstanding.

Just wanted to give anyone considering buying or adding on with a cruise planned a heads up - wait til you are on the cruise.

:thumbsup2

I purchased my initial 225 points last October. I added on 110 in November, and then added another 110 in December. The last add-on was onboard the Magic.

The incentives are basically the same at land or sea. The only difference was that onboard I received a nice model of the Magic which sells for $50 in the shops onboard.

I took a few notes, but knew I wouldn't be purchasing. Some incentives might have been because this DVC meeting was held on New Years Eve so it was still 2007. The salesperson offered the incentives for purchasing 200 points at SSR ($94) or AKV ($96). He would have given us the 200 points from 2007 with a April use year and would have only charged us ONE day of dues since that was all that left in the year. These points could have been banked with no penalties so that in April 2008 you would have had 400 points. He also offered 100 developer points (no dues) to be used in the next year and a $500 onboard DCL credit. The minimum you could add on was 110 points but the perks weren't as good. I am pretty sure that is accurate. Also the first few purchasers would get the model of the ship until they ran out.

Looks like the only difference is the $500 onboard credit. That may have been a NYE thing. We'll have to see if they offer that on anymore sailings.
