Purchase DVC on DCL?

Has anyone ever purchased DVC on a Disney Cruise? Really looking for those who have added-on as we are already members.

We did our VB add-on when we took the SS Member Cruise in 2003.

I'm ashamed to say I can't recall...but I'll see if I can pull out the docs and jog my memory

We did a 100 point add on at VWL while on the Disney Magic way back in 10/01. At that time we owned 200 points at BWV (originally bought 170 points, then did a 30 point add on). So now we have 100 at VWL and 200 at BWV, and this is just perfect for us.

As far as special offers - the going rate at the time was $75 a point. If you "sold back" the first year's points, you got $10 off per point. So we technically "paid" $65 a point. We had to put $500 down and financed the other $6000 (which I'm happy to say we paid off in 3 years!). We also got a lovely scrapbook type photo album.

We bought our points while on the Wonder this July because they were giving an $8 per point discount. We are going to use it for the first time next July. I hope we love it.

We have not added on while on the ship, but I am not sure why this would matter? Disney is everywhere, and people come to understand the benefits under many different circumstances... Any purchase or addition into DVC is going to make your vacation experiences better. If you see a special invitation that makes sense through Disney... get it!

We finally just make the phone call from home.
