This might be an odd question but, can I book rooms, purchase tickets and possibly later on add a DP? Or to get it,do I have to purchase altogether? Thanks, I hope I am in the right place to ask!

You have to purchase the room and tickets from Disney in the form of a package reservation to be able to add a dining plan. If you don't have a package, no plan. You don't have to buy everything as a package to start with - you could buy the room and then add the tickets and dining later, converting the reservation to a package; you can also buy the room and tickets as a package and add the dining plan later (must be done at least 3 days before arrival) - but you can't book a room only reservation, purchase your tickets from a discount broker, and then add a dining plan. To get the plan you would still have to purchase at least a 1-day ticket as part of a package reservation.

The exceptions are annual passholders and those eligible for the military discount (who can purchase ticketless packages) and DVC members (who do not purchase packages but may add a DDP to their DVC reservations).

Thank you, that helps alot! I was thinking of getting discount tickets and room separate.

I have a similar question. We have a package booked thru the sports dept for the Wine & Dine Half. I am going to purchase park tickets with the race discount. Can I add the dining plan to my package? Or would I have to buy 2 one day tickets to get it?

I was just about to post this question bc I just couldn't remember the rules. So if I have my park passes from UT and then book my room for 5 days .... If I want to add dining i would have to purchase a 1 day ticket for everyone in my party to get the ddp for those 5 days? Does that still apply if a free ddp promotion comes out?

Im pretty sure it has to be a minimum of 2 days for free dining!

Correct. It's one day tickets for any of the public or PIN codes, except for free dining which requires two day park tickets for everyone in the room.

The only ones that can add the DDP without purchasing park tickets are AP holders, people staying on DVC points, and the military deal.

However, to get free dining even AP holders must pay rack rate, buy two day park tickets, and buy the $99.00 memory book that they are requiring for free dining this year.

I don't think you can even add DDP with this type of reservation. If you can, and you want DDP, you'd have to buy the one-day tickets.
