I need some current DVC owner advise (otherwise why post). I am considering purchasing (finally). Here are some issues

I need to use my vacation time prior to 9/30 every year at my current job. Does anyone know if I were to secure a purchase this quickly from a resale is there even availablity this year to use a resales banked points by 9/30?

I have school aged children (10, 6 and 3), I do not mind pulling them out from school for vacation, however, I would like for at least one peak period (either spring break in March or summer vacation) to be available. Any recommendations on use yr?

Can we all fit in a 1 bedroom? We have stayed at the Fort Wilderness Cabins every year (most years 2 x) for the past six + yrs. We like the added space of the cabins. Do the 1 bedrooms compare to this?

We also enjoy the ease of transportion of Fort Wilderness to the Majic Kingdom. We always rent a golf cart and take the boat. I am not in favor of a bus ride, however walking to Epcot and taking the Monorail to the Kingdom will suffice. Or the Lodge and taking the boat. (but how far is the rooms to the lanching pad?) Do they also rent carts? Any other recommendations for home?

Disney has up to 30 days to exercise their ROFR, so you'd be cutting it close with buying a resale now for a trip in September. You'll have to find a resale contract to your liking almost immediately and get the ball rolling. :)

A 1-bedroom unit will only allow 4 peole. You would need a 2-bedroom unit which sleeps up to 8. As far as comparing to a Ft. Wilderness cabin, you will have a lot more room plus a washer and dryer. You will also have a whirlpool big enough for 2 people in the main bathroom.
Since you enjoy FW so much maybe a resale at Wilderness Lodge Villas would be right for you. If you want an EPCOT resort then Beachclub Villas or Boardwalk villas would work. The only points available through DDDisney right now are with Beach Club. You would have to buy a resale to get one of the others.
Here is a link to one of the places where you can get a resale:

The surest way to get a reservation for this September is to buy through Disney. Once they have your signed paperwork, you can make a reservation. This means days as opposed to weeks. To go the re-sale route is fine but you will be really cutting it too close for guaranteed reservations in September.

For onsite resorts, BWV and VWL points are also available through Disney (Vero Beach is also available but it's not onsite). However, I believe that VWL is down to only one use year.
