Purchase Ap at Resort

...Is there anywhere in FL where we can buy one without going to the parks first? We will be driving down and I would like to make just a quick stop to buy it before we check into the hotel.

If you are taking I-75 through Ocala, you can stop at the Disney Information Center and buy one there. Otherwise the other off-property places are all in the greater Orlando area:

Character Warehouse at Belz Mall 2 in Orlando
Character Premiere at Belz Mall 1 in Orlando
Character Premiere at Orlando Premium Outlets Mall in Lake Buena Vista

I won't add the airport location since you are driving.

Other than those, you are looking at a trip to DTD to avoid a park.

Okay. This is what I was trying to figure out. Since I wouldn't qualify for a package with an AP I need to get my tickets when I check in and then bring them to GS and upgrade them to APs. Correct?

Where in the orlando airport is the disney store? And is it usually crowded with people trying to buy AP's there??

There are actually two Disney shops at the airport that sell APs and other tickets. They are both located in the Main Terminal where the shuttle from the airside gates lets you off. After you exit the secured area, the shops are very visible. If memory serves me correctly, the shop on the A side is on the left and the shop on the B side is on the right as you follow the signs towards baggage claim.

I have one more question related to this. Say we were planning on buying an AP at the Orlando Airport when we get to Florida, but we want to get a DDE card at the AP rate before hand - is this possible? Or would we have to have some sort of number from the AP to give them when we order the DDE to prove we have an AP?

If this is confusing let me know and I'll try to explain it better. Thanks in advance for any advice

You must have your AP or AP voucher in hand before you can call for a DDE card. The DDE office is only open Mon-Fri from 9-5. You would have to call them after you picked up your AP as they do take your AP/voucher number and they will arrange for a temporary ID letter that you can pick up at Epcot Guest Relations after 5:30 pm.

You can purchase APs at both the Swan/Dolphin hotels.
