hubby says.....its okey .....she can be left in the kitchen with the gate up.....so I say okey...take hurricane meg out of her crate and let her have her kitchen......we go to the nursing home and then hubby says he has to go to walmart.......I say....let me off first cause we dont' want megara to be alone for long....so I open the door and out of nowhere comes this flying black and white hurricane .......it is my puppy......she also had the pillows off the couch....my shoes out of the bedroom.....my new sandals in the ll bean box in the living room.....the three inch coloring book totally already recycled.....the gate from the kitchen is on the ground and the linoleum is torn up in front of the doorway of the kitchen.....okey next room......the bedroom.....she had two blankets on the floor and my small little fan the cord eaten in half.....thank goodness she doesn't know how to plug it in..... then the front living room was the rest of the recycled coloring book.....and one of the dozen floor plants that she knocked over....of course it is the day that I watered the plants so I have to wait for the dirt to dry........hubby comes in and then says.........oh megara did you miss us.......and is your mama mad at you.......I rolled my eyes and said......you are nuts.......I know ....we should of kept her crated while we were out.......but we will learn........she is smart puppy though...TOLD her in one simple command........I think you know where you should go now......and she walked into her crate......

Ouch.. I feel your pain... I had 4 boys stuck in my house tonight. I can't even see my floor anymore.

PS: BTW, what's Meg's middle name?

Bad puppy....bad, bad puppy! :earseek:

I think that is why pups are so cute, so you don't kill them when they pull this nonsense! :teeth:

hubby says......how can anyone be mad at the cute little face......her name is Megara Athena......she is something else

 Oh pumba:laughing:...I KNOW I shouldn't but :rotfl:

" Hurricane Meg"...I love it.
And for those of you who would like to meet the guilty darlin' Megara:

If it will make you feel any better, I just took a mushed up-gushed up, soggy kleenex out of our 9 month old puppy's mouth, last week she threw up a bottle cap, chewed up DD's Hello Kitty hat (I just threw that away, DD has not found out yet), she is constantly stealing socks, pj's, blankets & stuffed puppies (DD & DS each have their own "puppy" they've slept with since they were babies), I guess she smells them most on these things.
She likes to "counter surf", she has taken DS homework, knives, scissors, mail, remote control, steals food off DD's plate when no one is looking. Monday, she discovered toilet paper, that was a 1 girl party. Oh, there is no way in hell I'd leave this dog home alone & not in her crate, she'd eat the sheetrock. I believe that crating is for their safety as well as the "safety" of my home. if it weren't for her crate, who knows how many times she'd have surgery to remove something.

ann.....you made me laugh.......she has changed in two weeks....she looks more like a dog ........brat.....~~~~

Oh, I just saw the pic. How cute!!! No, you could NEVER stay mad at that too long. We had a Dalmatian that had to be put to sleep 2 years ago, a few words of encouragement for that breed. Be patient through these puppy times, they can be rambuncsious little things, but the rewards are soooo... worth it. He (Ike) was the true "puppy love" of my life, I will never have another dog as loyal & smart as he was. He was wonderful. I look at our puppy now & think, "she's got big shoes to fill". It is a great breed & known for their smiles, I can still see Ike showing me all of his teeth when I'd come home:teeth: ENJOY!!!

Sniff, sniff, I miss my little buddy:(

ROTFLOL:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Sorry but your description just makes it sound so funny! She sounds like my nephews puppy- chews up everything she can get her paws on!:teeth:

:rotfl: :rotfl:

Oh, man, I soooo feel your pain. My 12 week old puppy is a handful, too. Thank goodness for that crate!

Your Meg is a cutie!

Oh, how I don't miss those days!! I can remember the days coming home to things chewed up or taken from the counter. You could be sitting in the same room and all of a sudden wonder where the dog went. That only meant trouble. It took 2 years until she was completely free in the house. Just glad those days are over.::yes:: Now she is a clam big baby. Just take it day to day.

You have a LOT of patience! You're very good natured about it. I'd be screaming and crying and Megara would have a new home. Guess that's why I don't have any dogs!

  Sorry! I feel your pain. I have a 17 month old boxer/lab. He's quite a handful and doesn't slow down for anything! His most recent thing was scratching the carpeting and pulling on the threads. The carpeting is ruined, and I'm not replacing it any time soon.  I keep threatening him that he's going to be looking for a new home. Why do I still have him? :earseek:

AWWW, :( I've been there with our yellow lab. As a matter of fact, he is still crated when we leave - he's 5 1/2 yrs old. Meg wanted you to know that shed missed you. If your DH is so smug about the mess, make sure he cleans it up :teeth: My cousin has a dalmation and she was forced to board him outisde in a large pen because he was bad too often. Dalmations are very high strung.

What kind of dog do you have? It looks a lot like our pup (only he's black & white) that we got at the pound. They said he was a terrier mix.

BTW, Charlie is crated most of the time, but we have just started leaving him loose in the house for short outings and not locking the crate door at night. He's been a very good boy so far (he's 10 months).

Oh poor Pumba. Hurricane Meg sounds like a good name for her. Megara Athena is beautiful. :)

What a cutie you Meg is!! Siberians are very energetic as well. We had one in the late '70s and when we'd talk to the vet about all the chewing she did, he recommended a crate. DH felt it was cruel. Not sure what specific act it was that changed his mind, but we did crate her whenever we went away and she didn't mind at all. Actually, the vet explained that they see it as their home... their safe place. We now have another Siberian as the first passed away in the early '90s and she is crated at night as well. She does not appreciate our kitties and for everyones safety she is crated. The crate that is downstairs that she's in when we go away has a second hasp on it because she could open the slide lock on the crate. She sleeps upstairs at night in the girl's rooms because she'll whine and carry on if left downstairs by herself. Big bad husky!!!

But in any case, don't look upon crating as a punishment. It keeps her safe.

:teeth: Aren't puppies great?

I remember when my labbie girls were small, they knocked the baby gate down one day and got to the laundry room. *ALL* of DH's socks and undies were laundered and stacked on the dryer.

Those girls must have had one heck of a party- socks and undies were shredded and scattered all over the basement... Looked like they played tug of war all day long! The only surviving unmentionables were the ones DH was wearing that day. :)

We had to go shopping for replacements, and the pups started spending more time in their crates after that. :sunny:

(They did still manage to find ways to destroy vinyl floors, various toys, wooden cabinet doors, carpet, drywall...)

tee hee...

"sure, she can be left out of the crate!" that's what my ex-husband said once...we let our dal out...and the house looked like a war zone! never ever again...lol...we did eventually train her so that she would stay in the kitchen, as long as we stacked two baby gates high in the doorway and put 2 dining room chairs in front of the gates...and then put something really heavy on the chairs to keep her from pushing through! :teeth:

our rott/lab mix (jasmine) is getting better about being so destructive. we came home one day after work to find that she had somehow pushed the tray out of her crate and then proceeded to tear up the linoleum underneath her. all the way to the concrete!! her crate covers the hole now...and that crate is all but cemented together to keep her in!

aren't puppies great? :hyper:

:teeth: Hurricane Meg. I agree - I don't think it's a mistake that puppies are so cute - keeps you from wanting the murder 'em. :)
