Punta Gorda???????

Has anyone been to Punta Gorda? My friend wants me to go, she is staying at Fisherman's Village. Does anyone know anything about this place, or any other places to stay down there?

We are visiting friends in North Fort Myers and can't find a 3 or 4 star hotel in the area. The south west coast from sarasota to FT. Myers is mighty lean for Large Hotel Chains!!!
Try usahotelguide.com and punch in the zip code of where you are visiting. The website uses independent resorts like Sanibel Harbor Resort and Spa and the White Elephant in Nantucket.

Last time I was in Punta Gorda....years ago....it was a heavy with the retirement community.......Not a lot of hotels in the area as I remember

I have in laws in Punta Gorda...I also don't recall a lot of places to stay but we did stay at a Holiday Inn I believe, it was overlooking a body of water, a pretty canal, it was several years ago. We don't spend a lot of time there. It is a very nice clean town, voted one of the best places to live by money magazine at one point.
