Pumping in the parks

I found some older threads about this, but hoping for more recent experiences. I’ll need to pump probably 3 or so times a day in the parks. Are baby care centers open? Do they have plenty of electrical outlets? Is it ok to sterilize pump parts in the microwave?

I’ve also read some conflicting things about whether you can store your pump at first aid or a baby center - any recent experiences? I have a spectra so it’s a bit bulky and I’m hoping to avoid running back and forth to a locker all day.

Would love any other suggestions people might have! Baby will take the pumped milk in a bottle immediately so I don’t really have concerns about storing the milk. Thanks all!

cant say for sure now but you did not used to be able to store at baby care center.

Baby care centers are open. The Magic Kingdom one should have enough outlets. That's the main one we have been to. Sorry I don't know the answer to your other questions, especially since the microwave rules may have changed in the covid era. Good luck and enjoy your trip.

Hi! I have pumped at the parks with a Spectra, and it's not my favorite thing, but doable! You won't be able to store your milk anywhere, so will need to be prepared. You also can't bring in ice (and hotel mini fridges don't really freeze ice packs). I carried everything with me in a backpack and clipped a small cooler to the outside of my backpack. It was a heavy few days. The nurse/first aid stations will give you ice packs once you arrive to keep milk cold. I recommend bringing an additional ziploc or even small plastic container to put ice in so when it melts, it doesn't soak your cooler.

I used the baby care sinks and microwave to sanitize. I bought the Medela steam bags made for this purpose, so recommend you get those! You can reuse one bag multiple times, so you would only need to bring in one bag per day. I would only carry two bottles with me, as well, and immediately poured milk into storage bags to keep the bulk down (this way I could use a small bottle-size soft-sided cooler).

Baby Care Centers are open in general, and when I asked on live chat for details about how they are operating, I just got generic responses. I came here to search and found your post.

I'm seeing that the MK baby care is being closed and a temporary location opening next week. Will be interested to see what it offers when I am there on June 2nd.

The nursing/mother's rooms at Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom are private, which means they are also more limited, but I've seen mothers pumping outside of those rooms in the care centers under cover if you can't or don't want to wait for a room. I have personally just pumped wherever in the shade (you could use the relaxation stations) under a cover, too, and then rinsed everything at the nearest restroom until I could get back to clean them more thoroughly. I never had issues with outlets.

I just went through this a few days ago. There is one baby care center per park and they are all a little different (none are all that great). At Hollywood Studios they have two small closet size corners with a chair behind a curtain where you can pump. Magic Kingdom is one nursing room with chairs in big a circle. There is water and a microwave available but no ice at any of them. You have to go to concession stands for ice. They won't store anything either so pack a cooler with zip lock bags and keep loading up on ice. I took a hand pump for space reasons but saw others with their electric pumps there.

If you end up at Universal, the mothers rooms and services there were great, especially compared to Disney World. Multiple centers per park, private rooms with their own tables, sink, microwave, and ice available right there. Universal even offered to store the milk there for me.

It is definitely doable to pump at Disney. You just have to lug all your stuff around, and it isn't the nicest experience.
