Does anyone else ever hear their pulse in their ear?

I didn't even think anything of it until I mentioned it to DH and he got a bit worried so I told my GP and all he said was, "Nope not normal" and gave me a scrip for a Carotid Artery Doppler tomorrow am. I'm not sure if I should let myself be concerned, I have so many strange presentations of migraine that I'm tempted to write this off to that especially since I have one and have been smelling burning stuff for 2 days, Neuro said smell is migraine related. There doesn't seem to be a reason for the pulse, nothing to do with movement or being excited and my pulse sounds even and steady, not fast and hearing it is intermittent:confused:

I think I'd feel better about it if someone else out there has had it or at least heard of it so i thought I'd ask.

The only time I hear my pulse is sometimes when I am lying down. I do suffer from "silent" migraines. The only way I now I'm having one is because I smell something like burnt toast. I once had a migraine that caused me to see double. Nothing else.

Hope it turns out it is nothing. Try not to worry.

Yep, I've had this happen before. Not frequently, and I don't suffer from migraines. Hopefully you will get a clean bill of health tomorrow.

I frequently hear my pulse in my ear, almost always the left one. I never thought anything about it. :confused3

Weird smells that are not really there, can also be attributed to brain tumors.

I know, that and seizures, I've been checked for both, had more MRI's than I like to count and I'm ok. Whenever something weird happens to me they tell me it's my migraines.

Me too, also the left ear, but it seems to be getting more frequent. According to my Dr ignoring it is not the best way to go:upsidedow

Thanks for responding PrincessKsmom & Feralpeg, it's good to know other people get this with no consequences.

Almost everybody has it occasionally -- your carotid artery is right there. Could be as meaningless as too much ear wax or something serious. Since you have the migraines going on also, it can't hurt to take a look with the echo.
