Pulling kindergardner out of school for 2 weeks.....

I havn't read any posts other than the original. So, forgive me if I repeat anyone else.

I'm also from Massachusetts and kindergarten is not mandated by Massachusetts law. So, you could opt to just keep your child home for the whole year. You should use your parental judgement and do what's best for your child and your family.

In Florida you can only go to first grade if you have successfully completed Kindergarten, so you would have to re-enroll in Kindergarten the next year. Mandatory attendance is 6 years old and over.

Obviously each state and school district are all different. Some have extended holiday breaks, some don't. Some have kindergarten homework, some don't. Some frown upon vacations, others welcome family time. Some families can go to WDW during Christmas break or summer - others can not.

There is no wrong or right here and since the OP replied she got her answer and her child's teacher was fine with it and stated she did not want this to be a debate then why is it?? She was only looking for some opinions. Not pushy harsh comments.

If you choose to never pull your kid out of school even if it means never going on a vacation - then that is your choice. If you choose to pull your kid out for a month to go international to visit family or 2wks in WDW - that is your choice as well. No one here should be made to feel bad about their decisions. Don't moms have a hard enough time as it it - why is EVERYTHING always a debate - not just her at the DIS but everywhere. I think it is sad how moms just can't learn that not all moms mother the same way or should I say, how you, yourself mother. How boring would our kids be if every mom mothered the same exact way??? There are valid points for either side of this "debate" here so this could go on and on and on and get even nastier and pushier but really - WHY??? :confused3
