Has anyone pulled a camper with a van? We have a toyota sienna and a coachman clipper 17 foot and we are planning on taking it on a camping trip that's 12 hours away without pulling a camper. Our van does have the towing package on it but it still makes me nervous to pull it that far. Are we crazy or do you think it will be okay?

It's really impossible to answer this question because there are some key things you have to know to determine what you can tow. What you have to find out is what the GVWR (gross vehicle weight rating) of your vehicle is. Then you subtract the actual weight of your vehicle, and the amount you have left over is the amount of weight you can tow. This seems complicated, but it's something you can figure out in 10 minutes once you know where to go for the info. Go to any RV forum or website and you can read all about how to figure it out. I know this sounds nerdy, but 7,000 lbs of steel hurtling down the interstate deserves a little research. If the numbers come up right, by all means go for it.

the towing capacity of your van is 3500#. all of the coachman clippers are less than 3000# on their website. you should be fine.
