Hi! I've been enjoying the wonderful advice here for months, and I'm finally making my first post! We're going to FW in March, and we're pulling a 30' camper. Can someone out there tell me whether it's legal to pull a small trailer behind a camper? We'd like to bring our golf cart, too, if it's at all possible. Thanks!

If you are pulling with a truck, see if the cart can fit in the bed... it's a popular way to go.

From what I have read, no trailers allowed at all behind a travel trailer that is hitched to a conventional ball type hitch. Some states allow a trailer hitched to a 5th wheel trailer. There are 'dollies' out there that fasten to the trailer and are not technically being towed behind the trailer.

We get them in all the time with hitches mounted on the rear bumper of 5th wheels and TTs. Even had one pulled the bumper off.

Found this in a blog - it cites the source...

According to TowingWorld.COM, the some 30 states do allow you to pull a trailer behind your fifth wheel. There are some "fine print" details on the matter, so we urge you to check out the full list before you hitch up and go. Here's the list of states allowing "triple tows:"

Alaska
Arizona
Arkansas
California
Colorado
Idaho
Illinois
Indiana
Iowa
Kansas
Kentucky
Louisiana
Maryland
Michigan
Minnesota
Mississippi
Missouri
Montana
Nebraska
Nevada
New Mexico
North Dakota
Ohio
Oklahoma
South Dakota
Tennessee
Texas
Utah
Wisconsin
Wyoming

I'm not recommending this as a solution, but here is a company who sells a product they claim will fill your bill. Might be worth investigating. I don't know much about the SwivelWheel dollies, but have investigated another of their products pretty extensively, the TandemTow, and they seem to be a pretty forward-thinking company with some good engineering chops.

I actually have one of these for sale. Donnie wants it but we can't figure out how to get it to florida.

I had a feeling it was probably illegal, and I think we'll look at whether we can get it in the truck. My paw-in-law (who owns the cart!) doesn't think it'll fit, but we can always try!

I have seen many people pulling a camper and pulling a boat behind the camper here in florida. Not saying it is legal but i have seen many of them here in florida.

I have a GMC 6 ft bed and I can take the tailgate off and it fits fine. I did have a guy come up to me at the Fort saying he had a Dodge truck that wouldn't fit, they are a little shorter even though each is considered 6 ft beds. Also I use a winch to put it in and out, I drove it up once and it seemed....... well I am chicken to do it again. I also put airbags in the truck just to give it that extra safty factor and to keep the TT at its orig hight.
