what do you serve with this? isn't it a "southern" meal sorta speak?....sorry I a stupid when it comes to stuff like this!!I just want to make sure I do this....right, I guess... :confused3

I don't make it myself, but we have some great places that serve it. I find it not too dissimilar from regular barbecue pork sandwich, other than that the strands of meat are longer than a 'regular' barbecue pork sandwich. Tasty.

I cook mine in the crockpot all day.

If I am making sandwiches I will fix baked beans and cole slaw with it.

If I am making it a meal, I will fix mixed greens (collar, turnip, spinach), mac and cheese, green beans and maybe corn bread!!

yeah its a mephis meal,, we serve it with bbq sauce, a white bread, bbq beans, cole slaw, or potato salad,( i prefer slaw) ussually eaten by piling the pork onto a slice of bread drizzling sauce over that then topping with cole slaw:) and another slice,,, if made as a sit down meal, i've seen it served topped with gravy, veggies of choice, andf served with biscuits,, its a main dish that at least around here gets served so many different ways its funny:) we had a buffet place here for a while that would serve the meat plain, along side dishes of bbq sauce, white gravy, brown gravy, and red eye gravy so you could eat it t he way you like:)

i like taking left over meat , reheaating in skillet gravy asnd serving with biscuits for breakfast:)

Ok, fellow Chicago area pulled pork eater. I have had it locally at the Weber Grill, but it wasn't a sandwich when I was there, just a pile. Everyone tells me that a place on Ogden closed down called Bone Daddy was good.

Also does anyone know if they have one anywhere in WDW?

We'll throw a pork roast in a crock pot all day, it pulls apart with a fork and its pretty tasty, but I want someone to cook it for me.

I;m just like everyone else and serve it with colesalw.
Its the best when its big and sloppy and falling out of the bun.

I made this for our Memorial Day picnic and anticipate making it tomorrow for supper. It was a hit at the picnic.

Pulled Pork Sandwiches

6 pounds pork roast
1 can beef broth

¼ cup cider vinegar
¼ cup Worcestershire sauce
½ cup brown sugar

Cut roast to fit crock-pot, add broth. Mix vinegar, Worcestershire and brown sugar, add to crock-pot. Cook 12 hours on low. Remove pork pieces and shred with fork. Drain broth mixture, place shredded pork back in crock-pot. In small saucepan, thicken broth by adding 1 teaspoon of flour per cup of broth over low to medium heat. Pour over pork. Serve on rolls with barbecue sauce.

Sounds yummy, what time are we eating?

Honey Roasted Ham

brown sugar
1/2 quart honey
shank or butt ham with bone (the bigger the better)
BBQ sauce

Put ham in roaster (one that has a lid). Rub with liberal amount of brown sugar. I usually sort of pack it on. Drizzle with honey. Add a squirt of water to the bottom of the roaster, so it won't start out dry. It doesn't take much water because it'll make lots of it's own juice. Bake 14 hours covered at 225. Last hour you can drain the juices and add BBQ sauce, but I usually just put the sauce on the table because we don't all agree on the sweet/spicy issue.

This makes a sort of pulled pork type ham. It falls apart, but oh is it ever good! Mom once tried it with a spiral cut ham and it was a disaster! Just go with a plain old ham. My son doesn't like ham, but he'll eat this one. Enjoy!

I loved pulled pork. Who's inviting me over for dinner?

Karen

to fix the pork put in dutch oven, oven temp 250, depending on size of the pork, cook untill the insides of the pork reach 190, and pulls apart using a fork. Take pork out of oven and let it rest for about an hour. after you have cooked it you can leave it plan and have bbq sause to add or you can put some in a pot on the stove with a little water and bbq sause and cook it down a little and have it flavored. For side dishes www.foodtv.com and look for Paula Deen. If you dont know the name she is a southern cook and has some very good items listed.

Its too late for today but I knowwhat is for dinner tomorrow night. Thanks for the idea.
