Pull Out Sofa

As a 250 pound person, I loved sleeping on the pullout couch at BLT. The mattress slept a lot cooler than the bed's.

They are similar at all the resorts, some are just newer than others. None are great. Fine for kids but not comfortable for an adult for more than a night or two IMO. DVC is supposed to be luxury accommodation and I don't consider sleeping on a hard fold down mattress luxury :earsboy:. Some people think the sleeper chairs are more comfortable, I've never tried it.
Sadly that's what I was thinking too. I wish DVC would do something about this. It's a shame really.

Hopefully when DVC replaces the old sleeper sofa, that the person who makes the decision has to sleep on test sofas for at least a week and choose the best one. I have slept on comfortable sleeper sofas, and my wife has slept on a comfy one at a friends time share. There is no reason for them to not be comfy. I think their reasoning behind this is to push people into a 2 bedroom. I think all resorts should have a certain percentage with 2 queen beds and the rest a queen and a sleeper sofa. 2 queens is better for me. We do not spend much time in the room, but some people do and want more room that the sleeper sofa allows.
I would rather two dedicated beds over the sofa to be honest. When we had a sleeper sofa at BC last year... my son slept on it and we kept it out the whole trip... it never was a sofa.

Some people feel strongly about having the couch so I think a murphy bed is the obvious solution. Something that folds down with a real mattress on it, similar to the Pop Century renovation but a couch instead of a desk.

I did not attend the member meeting in December but I read that they said they have also promised to “work on getting the sofa beds right”. Also that they would provide 2 types of pillows (soft and firm), larger shampoo bottles, new mattresses and updated linens all to make the room experience more comfortable.

Now of course they have finished refurbs recently at VWL, BWV and BCV and are working on OKW and I think it replaced sleeper sofas at those locations so who knows what the complete plan on "getting the sofa beds right" includes or when.

Think about how long it took to get a coffee table at BWV.

We used to be able to request an 'egg crate' foam pad to go on top of the regular mattress on the sofa bed at BWV, and it made the bed much more cmfortable. Have they done away with that?

So grateful for everyones input on this. I currently looking at renting points to stay and am torn by this myself. We are looking to go Oct 14 through Oct 17. They options we were given is Old Key West (2 beds sound like best option and the cheapest option), AKL Savanah View, BLT, and Poly. It would be a dream of mine to stay at the Poly but the idea of being uncomfortable for 3 nights might defer me to OKW. any advice? Would 3 nights in your dream be worth the pain? Has anyone tried just sleeping on the couch without pulling it out?

Quick question... has anyone found these to be comfortable, and if so... at which resorts?

I'll add an experience - I've slept on several of the pull-outs over the last few years (Boardwalk, OKW, WL, AKL, SSR) and all of them were perfectly comfortable UP UNTIL my trip to SSR last October (2017) - they must have replaced the pull-outs since the last time I'd slept on one at Saratoga because the one I slept on last October was ABSOLUTELY horrible. Very uncomfortable, hard as a rock, extremely thin mattress, difficult to open. It really was dreadfully uncomfortable to sleep on. For the first time ever, I asked Mousekeeping if they could send me some sort of foam mattress topper, but they had no idea what I was talking about (I've heard other people say they DO have these and you just have to get lucky with whatever Mousekeeping person you speak to?)

I wrote Disney about it - it would affect my decision to stay at that resort again with more than 1 other person. I wouldn't wish that sofabed on anyone.

Did Disney reply back to you?

I managed to get one of those egg crate toppers at BWV last fall, but it didn't really help. It's a thin mattress on a solid base. I have bursitis in my hip and it was terrible for sleeping on. Tried sleeping on the couch unopened, but that wasn't comfortable either, the cushions kept sliding out. I normally don't have any sleep problems, but this wasn't a good experience.

All I got was, "After reviewing your comments we believe another department within our company can best assist you. We have forwarded your message and you should hear from a member of our Disney Team within 7 days. Should you need immediate assistance, you may contact us at 321-939-4375."

Never heard from the other department.

But if you called to complain about the parking fee you will get a call back from the execs office. Maybe try that and then ask about the sofa beds?

Well, wouldn't your boys be sleeping on the pullout? Do they get the bed? Yes, 3 nights at my dream resort would be worth the uncomfortable bed. (I doubt it would be PAIN.) I loved Poly!

This trip is just my sister and I. One of us is taking the sofa at AKL and one of us at Poly. We will make it work. I couldn't pass up on staying in our dream resort and something we wish my mom would have gotten to do with us.

You know Poly has the murphy bed. I found it comfortable, but I only slept on it for one night. Beats a foldout sofa in my opinion.
I know what you mean about wishing your Mom could join you. My mother passed 1 year ago yesterday. I never could talk her into coming to WDW with me. Just one of many things I am still sad about.
