Pull out beds at AKV Kidani

As of right now I have 2 (hopefully connecting) rooms at CBR. I think I have my husband convinced to upgrade to a 1 bedroom AKV. That way we don't have to worry about not getting connecting rooms and/or even being in the same building. Anyway, his one hesitation is if our kids will be comfortable on the pull out beds. Our 17 year old daughter will get the sofa pull out (she is used to a full size bed) and our 13 year old son will get the chair pull out (he sleeps on a twin at home). Has anyone slept on the pull outs? Have their children? Any complaints? One person, in another one of my threads, said her son loved the chair pull out and it was more comfortable than his bed at home. She said her daughters complained but they had to share the other bed so she thinks that is why they complained. Any input would be very helpful.
Thank you in advance.

We just got back and my 11 yr old stayed in the pull out chair and the 16 yr old got the couch. The 11 yr old LOVED the sleeper chair! (She mostly loved not sharing with her sister) And we LOVED having the 2 bathrooms. AKL is very dark so be prepared so you are not surprised. Even with all the lights on and the curtains open it seemed dark. I highly recommend going with one room - having the full kitchen was so great - we ate breakfast and lunch at the hotel (came back daily to swim around lunch time). The w/d is also a bonus. We packed half as many clothes and I did laundry every day (it's not as bad when you are on vacation as it is at home). I brought Tide Pods with me cuz they only gave enough detergent for two loads. For those two reasons alone I'd go to AKL vs CBR.

We always stay in a two bedroom so my boys (24 and 18) don't have to share. We were at AKV last year and one took the bed in the bedroom and one took the pull out in the bedroom. I will tell you that midway through our trip the one using the pull out begged to switch so he could have a little time being comfortable.

This last trip my husband came down with the flu, so I then slept in the living room, which would be the area your children would be using for the one bedroom. I started on the pull out sofa. OMG, horrible. After two very uncomfortable nights I moved to the pull out chair. Better, but not great and felt sooooo small.

There are many who feel the pull outs are very comfortable, but this was just my personal experience. After that trip I felt horrible that I've been having the boys using pull outs all these years, but they're kids and they seem to adapt to it much better than I did.

No way could my husband or myself sleep on the pull outs. I am hoping they can. Lol. Maybe a Savannah view will offset the sleeping arrangements.

As I said on the other thread, a pull-out sofa bed is a pull-out sofa bed. And those are NEVER going to be as comfortable as a real bed. We stayed in something at Saratoga once (I didn't make the reservation) - must have been a 1-bedroom I guess - where my parents had the bedroom and I had the pull-out sofa and my sister made the sofa cushions into a bed on the floor (there was no pulp-out chair there, or if there was no one bothered to inform us of it. My sister, on couch cushions on the floor got better sleep than I did on the sofa bed.

The old, old sleeper sofas that were real mattresses tended to be more comfortable, but there was the bar. These don't have a bar, but are on a platform. The mattress is a three section foam pad. Same for the sleeper chair, but the sleeper chair tends to feel a bit more comfortable. But I don't sleep on them. We stick our son on them when he stays with us.

One time I had the sofabed in the living room at BWV (by myself). After the first night, I just slept on the couch unfolded.

DS, DIL and myself stayed in a 1bdrm at Jambo house and I got the sofa pullout. It was only for 2 nights but I didn't have any problems, as others have said a pull out sofa is a pull out sofa. I'm not young and I was able to sleep and walk the next day so I call it a win.

Our 10 year old slept on the pull out chair at Kidani and never complained. And trust me, he'd complain if it was bothering him! :rolleyes2

My mom slept on the pull out sofa with our 2.5 year old. She never complained, but she's not a complainer. So even if it bothered her, she'd never say anything, especially for a trip we took her on!

I would have done that, but sis was using the cushions for a mattress.

We considered staying here or at the poly DVC studios before deciding on CR tower. I was going to mail a foam sofa bed topper down to make sure my kids were comfortable because there's nothing worse than Disney with overtired, miserable children. It cost about $100 online and I was going to have it mailed directly there, and bring a spacesaver bag to ship it home. I've also heard of people bringing an air mattress with them and using that on top of the mattress, or on the floor instead of the fold-out beds.

I really wanted to stay at AKL but I am beginning to think that it might just have to wait until it's just me and my husband. Renting 2 rooms will give my children a real bed to sleep in. Maybe we will use that extra money and stay an extra couple of days :goodvibes

I think that sounds like a great plan! If my DH could get more vacation time I would gladly change to a less expensive resort for more days at Disney! There's so much to do, I have no idea how I'm going to cram it in!

Have you ever thought about a split stay? Maybe spend a couple nights at AKL because it seems like you really have your heart set on staying there, then move over to CBR where your children will be more comfortable?

I slept on a pull-out sofa sleeper at Kidani, for 4 nights, and it was extremely uncomfortable.

It was very hard, and I like a softer sleep.

This may not be politically correct but......

I am 5'1" and a runner. I can sleep on the pull out just fine as the mattress is VERY firm (as ols386 said)--but I like a hard mattress. But my fluffy friend can't sleep on it. She feels the big bar that goes across. Same for another fluffy friend.

I Gave this same repsonse in your other post" --have you considered 2 rooms at a value??? The villas are not *that* big and it sounds like there are various sleep issues.

We looked into the values, but from what I understand, the mattresses are hard there as well. We stayed in the Cabins last September, they were full size beds and they were very hard. It was an uncomfortable week for me and my husband. For about $500 more we can do 2 moderates which is what we are going to do.
