pull-down-from-wall vs. pull-out-sofa. Which resorts?

I know there has been a trend the past few years of changing the old style of DVC studios that had the pull-out-sofa-bed to the new style that has the pull-down-from-wall bed.

I personally love this change as we always use that bed, and for sleeping find it much more comfortable. I realize some others don't love the change since if you don't sleep in the bed, the sofa is less comfortable.

No matter which way you feel about them, it would be nice to have a list of which resorts have which style for the second bed in the studio... So... does anyone have a good list? This is what I think is the case, but please correct if I'm wrong. The GFV announcement was just posted today on DPB.

The resorts that have the pull-down-from-wall bed are:
Riviera (all of the studios)
Saratoga Springs (all of the studios)
Polyneasian (all of the studios - almost completed renovation? is it done yet?)
Grand Floridian (not available yet, renovation not started yet, but all old studios will have this style)

Traditional 2 Queen beds:
Old Key West
Grand Floridian (new studios in new building, not available yet)

pull-out-sofa-bed:
all the rest of the DVC studios

Interesting that the studios in the refurbished building (Big Pine Key?) will have 2 queens. I wonder why they made that decision.

Are they bigger? Maybe there is just more room for them.

Or maybe just to make it different so there are more choices. Some people (like if booking the room as a couple) might prefer the original style of 1 queen so they have more space in the room, while others (like a family of 4) might prefer to book the room with 2 queens since they always need the bed out each night anyway.

It's also one of the larger studios, so they have the room for it. They don't have to make a choice between a couch OR a second bed. They can fit a couch AND a second bed.

For your list if including non-WDW resorts, though the Vero Beach studios (possible 36 all part of 2BR lock-offs) currently have a queen and the pull-out couch, the inn rooms (112 rooms) all have two queens. Likewise at Aulani, the studios currently have the queen and pull-out couch but the small number of hotel rooms that are DVC have two queens.

I'm (im)patiently waiting for the pull-down beds to be added at AKV. Seems like we have a long way to go. Sigh...

From the photos I saw, it looked like they would have both options. Two queen beds and a day bed or one queen, one murphy and one bunk sized tv bed.

That's what I thought initially, but if you read closer it specifies that Big Pine Key Studios will only have the two Queen beds & daybed, while all the pre-existing DVC units will be renovated to have the Murphy bed.
The Big Pine Key Studios will essentially be regular resort rooms :sad1:

But they will still have the studio features in the kitchen (microwave, toaster, etc).

I view it as a positive, not negative. All the features of a regular studio, plus 2 real beds instead of one of them being a pull out (or pull down). They look like they should be the best studios on property (only accounting for what's in the room, Poly is still my fav!)

2 real beds and a day bed would be a big plus for our family, but from what I'm reading, the Big Pine Key Studios will not have a traditional kitchenette. The DVC website describes them as including a "beverage center" with a beverage cooler and coffee maker. I hope I'm wrong.

They are basically renovating the GF rooms as is.

No, they won't. The DVC website describes them this way:

NEW! Resort Studios*
These all-new Studios will sleep up to 5 Guests, with 2 queen-size beds and a day bed. Enjoy luxe touches like quartz countertops, ornate crown molding and patterned tile. Resort Studios also feature a flat-screen TV, a beverage center with a beverage cooler and coffee maker, and a gleaming bathroom with marble tile floors and a combo bath/shower.

Oh no! Now I see what you mean! My mistake. Thanks for pointing that out. Yes agreed, this would then be a negative.

I believe they will also be a seperate booking catagory, so the points can be whatever DVC wants to make them. Any guesses on if the points per night will be higher or lower than the existing VGF studios?🙃

So all they are really doing is updating the hotel rooms with newer furniture and a laminate floor, which rooms previously had two queens, a beverage cooler and coffee-maker. Without the kitchenette with frig, sink, and microwave, one has to question the basis for calling the room a studio rather than what it is, a hotel room.

Also, wonder if they will have a laundry room in the building or not, I hope they don't get sent over to the original VGF like how the Poly only has one laundry room for all 3 building.

I'm a huge DVC fan, but to call these rooms a DVC studio is an insult. Plus I am sure they will set up a point chart where these DVC hotel rooms cost more points per night than a true DVC studio in the old VGF DVC villas.
