Pull Down Berth....Will meet the weight limit certainly of max 220 pounds, but can a 6'3 or 6'4 son fit on the pull down berth?

Quite frankly, very dissapointed that Disney doesn't ask the weight limits of occupants! What happens if the ship is at capacity, and all 4 occupants of a Category 4C Family Stateroom With Verandah is over the weight limit of 220 pounds for the Pull Down????? Very misleading in my opinion on Disney's behalf!

The sofa bed below is same length? That might even be short in length?

Can you explain what a size the Murphy Bed is? Same length?

THANKS VERY MUCH!:goodvibes

No. I can't see a 6 foot 3 inch adult being comfortable in the bunk. Well...I guess if he doesn't care that his feet hang off......

I might be crazy, but I really think there are 2 different lengths of couches. I believe this because DD at 5'8" was uncomfortable in one (don't know how tall she was then....) but on a later cruise was fine! This is the flip couch bed.

A murphy bed is a bed that drops from the wall. It is a standard length of about 6 feet. It then folds back up against the wall. The original murphy beds used to fold into a cabinet so that when folded, it didn't look like there was a bed in the room at all. If you google the term "Murphy bed," you will see lots of variations, google "murphy bed DCL" and you'll see those in the cabins.

no.

I just cant see it. climbing up that little ladder and contorting himself to get in there.....

I really dont see anyone besides a kid up there. I am only 5 ft and I looked at thought it might be fun but came to my senses and didnt even try. my 4 yo loved it!

I was the lucky winner once in my group on the magic and was stuck on the top pull down bunk. I am 5 '6 and my feet slighty hung off the end of the bed. So I would not recommend it for anyone taller... They really are made for kids/youth and not so much teens/adults.

My son is 6'3" at the age of 15 and definitely could not sleep on the bottom bunk as it has the sides from the sofa...unless he scrunched up. He does get on the top and his legs do hang off if he stretches out. The murhphy bed in the 5 person room is the best form him..he still hangs off but feels it's better although he loves that top bunk as it's always been "his" bunk in the past. We'll see what happens this cruise..we have 2 rooms..I'm sure he'll try it..but end up in the queen. :)

What a mess this is turning out to be! As a first time cruiser, I was naive to how the other beds would be(other than the queen)....So a murphy bed, pull down bed and sofa bed are all the same length?????

As I look at the configuration of the beds in a Family Stateroom with Verandah, perhaps in the Disney Literature they should recommend this room type for families with younger or smaller children. My travel agent should have also cautioned us when she knew we were traveling with young adults.

Should I have booked 2 lesser expensive separate staterooms? I booked this well over a year ago...Now I would imagine even if they had the room category to make a change, prevailing rates would apply????:scared1:

I was so looking forward to a first time cruise experience, am now feeling that we were misguided.......I am still within the cancellation period, but now I am very very confused.

Thanks for any insight before I reach out to the travel agent.

My DS was 13 when we had to stop getting one stateroom. He's over 6 feet and only 125 lbs. But too many appendages hang off of the beds (both upper and lower bunks). My teenage DD still fits, but she's only 5'3", so her and her brother share a stateroom, where he gets the queen bed and she gets whichever bunk she wants.

Oh my..I would hope it wouldn't ruin your trip as the kids are so exhausted and we have done the 5 person family verandah before...this time it just wasn't available or we'd be in it again...tall son and all. Last cruise he was around 6 ft and I know DH (5'10") gave up the Queen for him a couple of nights. The sofa bed does have the side arms of the sofa so that does limit your feet sticking out...it's more of a convertible bed instead of pull out sofa bed. The pull down bed you can at least hang your feet off. My guess would be the murphy is the same size..but don't quote me. Maybe you could pose that question to DCL for the exact size. We did all fit and that was a 7day cruise and nobody really complained..of course...I don't allow it :rotfl2: I always tell my kids that there are people sleeping on dirt floors somewhere in this world and you just have to be greatful you are even on a cruise. I only recently bought my son a full size bed...which he sleeps cross ways on...as his feet stick out of that as well. Poor kid just got his genes from my dad's side.

TA was able to change to a room with the Murphy Bed, same category 4C Deluxe Family Stateroom with Verandah.:goodvibes

When I asked about perhaps changing to 2 either connecting staterooms or side by side, no availability for August cruise. Guess its critical to make those decisions when you book early!

At least Murphy Bed can be used by 1 son, and the other son can choose between Upper Berth or sofabed....

Caution to those booking Category 4C Family Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah! If you want the Murphy Bed in the stateroom which sleeps 5, request it! Otherwise, for 4 you most likely won't have the Murphy Bed!

When we missed our cruise last week, we were booked in a 5B stateroom for myself, wifey, 17-yr-old and 13 year old sons... Now that we've rebooked, we have thought better of it, and gone the two-cabin route... A 6B so wifey can get her verandah, and an 11B so younger son can get his virtual porthole. And soon to be 18-yr-old 6'3" older son is quite grateful to be getting a queen bed of his own... :)
